"And," Alex carefully grabbed the frying pan with a mitten-covered hand, pulling it off of the burner as he scooped the eggs and bacon onto each of your plates, "breakfast is served," he announced, mimicking a French accent that made you laugh.

"Wonderful job, Chef," you clapped for him, causing your husband to give a playful bow at the praise. "Thank you," you hummed as he sat your plate down in front of you, and you placed a quick kiss on his cheek when he leaned down.

"No need to thank me, my love," he shook his head, carrying the now dirty frying pan over to the sink to quickly wash it off, making sure not to pour the grease down the drain, before placing it in the dishwasher, "you know I live to serve you."

"Yes, my servant," you giggled, picking up your fork as you scooped up a bit of the scrambled eggs, plopping them into your mouth. You hummed in delight at the taste; Alex really was a wonderful cook, even with all of your teasing.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, my queen," he retorted at your comment, walking back over to sit beside you at the kitchen table. He began eating his own food, chuckling softly to himself, "damn, I have outdone myself once again."

You snorted and rolled your eyes as he praised himself, before glancing over at the clock hanging up on the wall. It was nearly eight o'clock, and you would have to leave for work soon. You worked day shifts at the office from nine to five, while Alex worked afternoon shifts from twelve to seven. Alex worked for a packaging company in town, so his job was a bit more arduous than your own. Even so, he still made sure to go out of his way to make you happy; you never even had to lift a finger around him.

You truly had no idea how you had managed to get so lucky to find a guy like him, nor why someone as wonderful as him had settled on you; an emotionally distressed girl with a boatload of trauma. You were much better now compared to when you first met him, which only further proved your point. How had he fallen in love with you of all people? That was a question you had asked yourself once before, many years prior.

You glanced over at your bedroom door, which you had left cracked open, when you heard the soft whines of a baby interrupting the silence. "Sounds like someone's finally awake," Alex chuckled, immediately getting up to go and retrieve the baby.

"There's my little princess!" You heard him coo from the bedroom, "good morning to you, my little angel."

Evelyn's soft whines soon turned into delighted giggles, and Alex carried her out of the bedroom and into the kitchen.

"My sweet baby girl," you giggled softly, holding out your hands for her as Alex handed her off, before going over to grab her high-chair. You sat Evelyn in your lap, letting her lean back against your chest as you bounced her gently on your knee.

"I'll drop her off at the daycare at eleven," Alex said as he carried the high-chair over to the table, setting it down between your two chairs. You allowed him to gently take her from your lap, settling her down in the chair, before going to grab her something to eat as well.

"That's earlier than usual," you hummed, going back to eating your breakfast, "how come?"

"Jared has to leave a little earlier than usual and asked me to cover the end of his shift," he explained, "something about needing to take his kid to the doctor."

"That's fine," you hummed with a nod, "just don't need you overworking yourself."

"It's only, like, thirty minutes more than usual," he chuckled, grabbing a tiny bowl and pouring some fruit loops in for Evelyn, "you don't need to worry about me, baby."
