"Come on Bentley faster! Remind me why you are on the team!" Coach yelled at me. We were at practice running laps. I was lagging a little bit. Not because I'm slow but because all my energy is gone. Zane has been gone the last week at his dads. When he's not with me at night I can't sleep. So I have probably only gotten like about 5 hours of sleep since Sunday and today is Thursday.
It's not like I was last its just that 3 people were infront of me. And we are on mile 5. If we keep running I'm going to die. But I sped up proving to coach that I belong here. I was now running in front with Cody.
"Hey there." Cody elbowed me. He didn't even look sweaty. I hate him for that. My clothes were sticking to my body. My chest length hair was put in a high ponytail and drenched with sweat.
"Do you know how many we have left?" We were almost up to coach again. We just lapped a couple of runners. For being January in Minnesota the weather was nice. There was fresh snow on the ground but the soccer field and track have been plowed. Coach gave us a thumbs up and blew his whistle meaning finish the lap you were on. Me and Cody slowed to a walk and put our hands above our heads.
"What came first the chicken or the egg?" Cody asked with a smile on his face. It was ritual for us to pick out an odd topic of conversation after a run to help us focus on something other than how tired we are!
"The egg duh! I mean the chicken comes from the egg." There was a nice patch of snow on the ground. I sat down in it and admired how cool it was.
"The egg comes from the chicken though! So really we are stumped." Cody told me. We were now making snow angles. There is no clouds in the sky and the sun is shining down on us.
"Lets agree to disagree!" We shook hands still laying there though. At least till my shorts were soaked. I grounded and stood up shaking off the snow that had stuck to my clothes.
"Gather around ladies!" I tells to my men as the last person got done running. They all circled me. Most were sweating like crazy. I just smiled at them. "Our first scrimmage is on Monday! Tomorrow we will be practic using another hour we will be on the field and doing drills. After practice me, Zane, and Cody will announce who is playing when. Got it." Most of the guys nodded. "Good now go take a shower you all smell!"
The locker room is big I go over to my locker that is yes in the boys locker room. I am the only one at my end so I strip off my shirt and shorts grab my towel and walk to the showers where we have to wait in line.
"Nice we other we are having!" Teddy says from next to me. He is just in his boxers like the rest of the guys.
"I didn't know that we were resorting to small talk." Me move foreword in line. "I should just take a shower at home!"
"Then you would miss diner with us like you me and Cody planed." Teddy reminded me. Since me and Zane started me and the boys haven't hung out so tonight we are going out to eat then to a party. Skipping school tomorrow. But not practice that would be asking to be murdered.
"You are lucky I like you." We had 2 people infront of us and I could feel the steam from the hot water sticking to my body. I was now next but Cody budged infront of me.
"Hey no budging!" Teddy yelled to Cody. He grabbed Cody and put him behind him. My turn for a shower. With my shampoo in my hands ad towel on my shoulder I claimed a shower.
The water was already warm so I stripped off my clothes and let the water run on me. It was quiet in the shower room besides water running. Time for me to have some fun.
"Baby you light up my world like nobody else
The way that you flip your hair gets me over whelmed
