Grace was lonely in all of her classes. Her first and only friend left her to go to southern France. She knew Zoey didn't want to go there, and that her mum might just be stricter than hers. Grace was in her dorm, with an empty bed now. A new student would be moving in with her today. Grace was not excited. It was as if Zoey was just being replaced.

Grace tried to remove the thought from her mind. She went to her desk and wrote a letter to Zoey. She had been doing this the past few days. She hasn't been able to reach her; yet she kept trying. When she finished her letter, she took it and walked down to the owlery. She had no pets of her own, so she had to use the school's. She was walking down the stone pathway when it started raining. Grace didn't care. It was just water. It couldn't hurt her.

She walked up the stairs to the owlery and gave her letter to an owl. The owl flew off. Grace waited by the window for a few minutes. As she suspected, the owl came flying back to the window with the letter. They just couldn't find Zoey's location.

Grace walked back to get to dinner in time. She was again disappointed that she couldn't get in touch with Zoey. The only other person that Grace considered a friend was Lilian.

Grace didn't eat much at dinner. She needed to finish quickly because she needed the time after for homework. She could barely focus on her work. She missed Zoey too much. The least she wanted was to keep in touch. She knew Zoey had a phone, but her mum won't let her have one.

She finished her homework just in time for Astronomy class.
