Penelope and Lilian were standing in front of the wall to Diagon Alley.

"Are you ready first year?" Penelope asked.

"Yes, no, maybe? I've never been to Diagon Alley before. All of my things were hand downs from my mum." Lilian said.

"Yeah, yeah. I don't have time to hear your sob story." Penelope said as she repeated a pattern with her wand on the brick wall.

"I don't care about your hearing." Lilian snapped.

"We need to do this quickly before McGonagall or Snape notices I'm gone." Penelope said, startled by the rude response.

"You? What about me? What if they notice I'm gone?" Lilian asked as she watched the brick wall open into a street with a lot of shops.

"Oh well. One less sly Slytherin to deal with." Penelope said.

Lilian was offended, and wanted to insult Penelope, but she didn't want to ruin her chances of getting a new wand. She followed Penelope down the street and into a shop labeled Ollivanders: Makers of fine wands since 382 BC.

"Well, ring the bell on the desk!" Penelope ordered Lilian.

Lilian obeyed and rang the bell. A man came out, and asked "Looking for a wand?"

"Yes..." Lilian replied.

The man nodded and went out to some shelves. He grabbed a wand and gave it to Lilian. Lilian took it and held it steady in her hand. Penelope rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"Well, wave it now." The man said.

Lilian gave it a wave and sparkles surrounded her. The ghost cat meowed in approval. "Thanks, Sabine." Lilian murmured.

"That's the wand for you... that would be 25 knuts." He spoke.

Penelope grabbed some coins from her pocket and gave them to the man. "Thanks." Penelope said.

...

"Come on, we have to get back to Hogwarts before we get in trouble. Hey, Ollivander sir?"

"Yes?"

"Could we use your fireplace?" Penelope asked, pointing at the fireplace on the side of the wall.

"Sure," Ollivander said.

Penelope walked over to the fireplace, and threw some of her floo powder in.

"Remember, say HOGWARTS." She told Lilian.

Lilian nodded and stepped into the fire. Penelope followed shortly after.

...

They came out of the fireplace in the Great Hall. They were greeted by Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, and Professor Snape.

Lilian's face was frozen in fear. She held onto Sabine tightly. She found all these teachers very intimidating.

I knew this was coming, Penelope thought.

Snape spoke up first. "Lilian, I am disappointed. My Slytherins are better than this. Go to the common room. I'll talk with you later."

Lilian scurried off to the dungeons where the Slytherin Common room was located.

"As for you LING, detention. With me for one month. Every Thursday. Stay after in potions class with me." Snape said.

Penelope nodded.

Flitwick then spoke up, "Come with me back to my office. We are going to talk about this."
