Techno POV

The brothers entered the building quickly, both terrified beyond words. Techno's heart was pounding in his chest, louder than he thought possible. His thoughts were running a million miles a minute. He could only imagine what Wilbur was feeling.

Tons of people were running around, each one doing a different thing. Techno could sense Wilbur's nerves beginning to rise. The boy had never been a big fan of crowds. Techno quickly took his hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Wilbur squeezed, clearly thankful that Techno was there.

The duo made their way to the front desk, where a nurse was typing busily on her keyboard. As they approached, she looked down at them, her glasses falling down her nose. She was quick to readjust them before greeting them. "Hello, how can I help you?" Her eyes studied them, clearly trying to decide if they were too young to be alone.

"We're here to see our brother, Thomas." Techno replied, gripping Wilbur's hand tighter. He had never enjoyed talking to strangers, but he knew he had to push that fear down. He had to be the older brother.

"Thomas?" she repeated, her eyebrows raised.

"Jones." Techno responded, the name foreign to his tongue. It had been their mother's last name. Sometimes he hated that they still shared the same last name. But he also knew his father's name wasn't any better.

The woman began typing again, pausing to read the screen. "Room 204."

"Thank you." Techno said politely. Techno headed towards the stairs, bringing Wilbur behind him. He knew Wilbur didn't like elevators either so he made a point to avoid it. Pushing the door open, he turned to his younger brother. "You alright Wil?"

"Don't worry about me." the brunette shivered, pushing past Techno.

Techno sighed, following his lead. The stairs gave them both time to think. Neither one of them could tear their thoughts away from Tommy. Was he okay? Was it worse than they thought? What if they were too late?

Before long, they arrived at the second floor. Pushing the door open, Techno was relieved to see that there weren't many people around. Tommy's room wasn't too far from the stairs, so they didn't have far to walk.

Pausing at his door, Techno took a deep breath before turning the door knob. The door creaked open, revealing their youngest brother. Techno's heart dropped in his chest. Tears threatened to pour at the sight of a broken Tommy.

Had he always been so small? Sure, he had always been the smallest, he was the youngest after all. But he had never seen Tommy so fragile. Wilbur paused next to him and Techno immediately knew he was thinking the exact same thing.

An IV stuck out of his arm, only adding to the tubes that surrounded him. His face was covered in bruises, worse than it had ever been before. What exactly happened? The only thing keeping Techno from completely freaking out was the heart monitor that beeped beside him at a steady pace.

"Oh Tommy." Wilbur whispered in disbelief, immediately pulling a chair closer to the bed. He took Tommy's limp hand in his own, holding it firmly.

Techno grabbed his own chair, bringing it to the other side of the blonde. He began to gently thread his fingers through the child's golden hair, untangling the knots as he went. "We're here Tommy." he whispered, unsure if Tommy could even hear him.

The two guarded Tommy's bed, refusing to leave his side for even a moment. A few hours passed before the doctor came in. Bringing the news with him.
