Wilbur POV

Wilbur sprinted towards Kristin and Phil's apartment, struggling against time. He could feel Tommy burning up in his arms, urging him to run faster. He just wanted Tommy to be okay. He had to be.

He knew exactly where their door was, having been there several times since he left. True to their word, they always welcomed him. They would talk for hours, checking in and making sure everything was okay. And of course they let him play his guitar. It was one of the few times he felt alive, only for that feeling to be crushed when returning to Techno.

Now, running with Tommy in his arms, he prayed that they wouldn't turn him away. He knew they wouldn't, but with the words Techno had said, his fears had perked up a bit.

Relief spread through his chest like a wildfire as soon as he caught sight of the door. Tommy was going to be fine. They were going to make it. He jumped up the steps, rapidly knocking on the door.

Almost instantly, Kristin opened it. "Wil- What happened to Tommy?" she immediately took the blonde from his arms, carrying him inside.

"That sickness is back." Wilbur panted, struggling to catch his breath. "I didn't know where else to go."

Kristin nodded, "He'll be alright. We'll take care of him." She left the room, most likely bringing the sick boy to bed.

The brunette headed towards the living room, knowing he would find Phil there like always. Sure enough, the man was sitting in his usual spot with a newspaper in his hand. Grinning, Wilbur shouted, "Hey Phil!"

Phil jumped, causing the teen to burst out laughing. He loved making Phil jump. What never made sense to him was how Phil didn't see him coming. But it didn't matter since it was their thing.

"Hey Wil, here to play again?" he smiled, putting his newspaper down on the table beside him.

"Tommy's sick again." Wilbur said abruptly.

Instantly Phil's expression changed to a look of worry. "Is he alright?"

"He should be."

The man studied him. Over his past few visits, their trust had grown. Now Phil could read him better than anyone. "Where's Techno?" he asked softly, knowing there was something he wasn't telling him.

"We got into a fight." Wilbur admitted. "He didn't want me to bring Tommy to you guys."

Phil nodded, "Still haven't cured that stubbornness, huh?"

The brunette shook his head. "I just don't understand. He knows I'm right yet he refuses to admit it." It just didn't make any sense to him. Didn't he want the best for all of them? His eyes traced to the paper beside Phil. He didn't want to talk about this anymore. "Anything interesting in the paper?"

Phil thought for a moment, picking it up. "The most interesting thing I found was that someone escaped from jail. Someone by the name of Brian Smith-"

All the blood drained from Wilbur's face at his words. "D-did you just say Brian Smith?" he repeated, begging that he had heard wrong.

Phil stared at him, nodding slowly. "Yes, Brian Smith. Wilbur, what's wrong?"

"That's our father." he whispered. He thought for a moment, feeling like he was going to throw up. "Techno's all alone."

"What?!"

Phil jumped to his feet, instantly going for his shoes and coat. He had heard some of the stories of their father, from what Wilbur had shared. It was enough for him to hate his guts for all of eternity. "Stay here." he ordered.

"But you don't even know the way-"

"I saved you all before, remember? I know where it is." Phil reassured him, heading for the door.

Wilbur watched after him, fearing the worst.

What if he didn't get to Techno in time?
