Chapter 13- Not So Easy

Techno POV

It took nearly two weeks before Techno was finally given custody. He had fought hard to keep his brothers together. He had never felt so relieved when he actually succeeded. Seeing the smiles on his brothers faces was enough to make it all worth it.

But with things finally going his way, Techno quickly found the struggles. 

Tommy struggled night after night with nightmares, clinging to his brothers like his life depended on it. Techno could only hold him through the nights, hoping that for once his demons would just leave his little brother alone. But they never did.

Wilbur's struggles weren't as easy to see coming. He had always had panic attacks and they had only gotten worse. He saw every man as a threat, even after their father had been locked away. But Techno was always there, through it all. 

He helped his brothers as best as he could. But there was only so much he could do.

It wasn't long until the bills started coming in. At first, it was easy to pay off with the help of support from the courts. But it wasn't long before that help stopped coming and Techno's case was forgotten. But the bills didn't stop. They just kept coming.

Techno worked more and more, trying to pay those bills. But it was like the world was against him. No matter what he did, he just couldn't pay it off.

And one day, five months after he had been given custody, he found himself thrown to the streets. They had no home, no job, no nothing. 

Techno lead his brothers into the streets, knowing his brothers would definitely be taken away from him. At least they were together for now.

"Are we really going to live on the streets?" Wilbur said with uncertainty. 

Techno sighed, leading his brothers to their new home base. "Just until I can save up enough money to get an apartment. It shouldn't be for long." he reassured, wishing he could provide more. 

"This is so cool!" Tommy exclaimed, his smile wide with excitement. "We can go anywhere!" 

Wilbur and Techno exchanged looks, not understanding his optimism. 

Techno ran a hand through his hair, feeling the guilt pool up in his chest. "Maybe you guys should-"

"We're together. That's all that matters." Wilbur said, standing beside Tommy. "You're trying your best Tech, we get it."

"I'm sorry." Techno whispered, wrapping his arms tightly around his siblings. "I'm sorry I couldn't do more. I thought... I thought I could do it. I thought I could take care of you guys."

That's when he made a promise to himself. That he would fix this. He would give his brothers the home that they deserved.
