I felt numb at the news. I left the hospital to rest for one brief moment and she was just gone. Tomura began to whisper sweet words into my deaf ears as I absorbed the shock painfully and slowly.

Mom...

Mom...

I let out a piercing shriek as I began to sob. I couldn't- I can't-

"Shh..." Tomura cradled me as I sobbed.

"Who's there with you?" Mitsuki gasped as I covered my mouth.

"...I'm her boyfriend," Tomura said, "Name's Kyo; we've been going out together these last few months... I can't abandon someone like her, you know?" I glanced at him confused as he put his finger over his lips. Why would he lie like that...?

"Oh... Oh thank heavens," Mitsuki sighed, "Thank you for taking care of her. I bet Inko would have loved to meet you! Can you walk with her to the hospital? Tomura Shigaraki was spotted near our area and I don't want her attacked..."

Attacked? What? My Tomura?

"...What is she talking about...?" I asked softly. It didn't seem too out of character for me, making Mitsuki respond with a chuckle.

"That's right! I'm sorry, Kyu; I should have notified you sooner. Tomura Shigaraki is the leader of the League of Villians.  He attacked Deku earlier on the mall; something to do with sniffing the light out of the heroes. He's crazy."

"...Don't worry, Mitsuki; I'm in excellent hands..." I responded robotically. Tomura raised an eyebrow as my eyes bore into his. Mitsuki ended the call. "...That's why you had to leave last night...you're a leader..." I muttered, looking at the ground.

"...But I didn't... I couldn't leave you..." he responded.

"...Will this set your progress back? Will I be the reason for a failed battle?" I wondered out loud. Tomura chuckled.

"That's what you're worried about? Oh, Kyu..." he shook his head, smiling. He sighed as his phone rang. He turned pale as something was quietly relayed to him. "Don't engage; I'll be right there," he barked, hanging up the phone. "Kyu, I'm sorry; I have to go now... but before I do..." He handed me a small gift box. "I wanted to give this to you the next time I saw you, but you had to suffer so much last night and this morning that I didn't get a chance to..." he itched the back of his neck.

I gasped as I looked at the beautiful hairpin. Made of deep ruby and purple onyx, it swirled as a lily like flower. He pinned ir in my hair without a second thought.

"I hope this can protect you from what's about to come." He kissed me briefly, making me dizzy as he left. I sighed, feeling a smile tug at the corners of my mouth.

I can do this... I touched the hairpin with a soft caress, he's here with me...

I was stoic as her funeral was held. Whatever emotion I felt was long since replaced by Tomura's affections. Izu sobbed into his hands as Katsuki stood by, extremely quiet.  He reached out to put his hand on his back, causing Izu to wince for a moment but when he saw how sad Katsuki looked, he cried even more. I guess Katsuki has his moments...

I held onto Izu's shoulders as we put her to rest, laying her coffin into the open grave. Her wish was to be buried within the earth, so she can feel the life at her fingertips. So we made sure for it to happen.

Izu held onto me for dear life, his sobs echoing through the area, as I closed my eyes and held him tightly, feeling nothing. No, not quite nothing; empty? Relieved? Numb...

But Izu didn't understand it fully; he was still a child. And how could he? Society shielded him from the truth the moment he was declared a hero.
