chapter two
the state of dreaming.

The feeling of his lips against her bare shoulder made goosebumps arise all over her skin as she tried to conceal the shivers he gave her.

Maybe it was from the cold of the stone floor.

Maybe she should have worn a T-shirt instead of a tank top.

They sat on the garage floor, her laying in between his legs as they leaned up against the wall, and they listened to Demetri go over every little detail to make this small get away perfect. Technically, it wasn't a get away for Juno. She doesn't plan on coming back.

They were going to be so mad.

It was Juno's plan of course, to run away, and it was only intended for her. . . but Miguel found her book, the one where she wrote and wrote and wrote until she could not move her left hand for a few days for it ached if she did so much as lift it. The writing was smeared and the pages slightly torn, it was a miracle how Juno never ran out of space.

When Miguel had found the leather bound book that Juno had gotten for her birthday from her father before he left, curiosity took over and brutally stabbed his chest over and over and over again. No one has ever seen the sweet, comforting girl have so much rage toward a single person. ( To clear the air Juno didnt murder Miguel, if that's what you were thinking. )

Demetri was convinced Miguel was a ghost, walking amongst the rest of them. It was meant to be a joke but Juno and Tory came to the conclusion that it might not be.

There was no way he could have survived her fury. Miguel still regrets reading it. Juno regrets yelling at him.

Let's be honest though, running away as a group would be much safer than Juno up and leaving without a trace. So maybe it was a good thing Miguel accidentally flipped through a few pages. That's what Eli said anyway.

"So the goal is New York, we have the funds, we have the drivers, we could leave right now if we wanted to," Demetri said, making Juno perk up and accidentally hit Eli in the face with her shoulder.

"Lets go then!" she exclaimed, not hearing the groan coming from the boy behind her.

"We still need to pack J," Miguel told her. "And and-"

"There's still more planning," Demetri finished.

What the fuck needs more planning? She thought to herself. Lets just go.
