There was something about this particular IHOP that the two teens were drawn to. That's a lie. In all honesty, while they were driving around and contemplating places to eat where they had never gone before, nervousness picked at their skin and they resulted in going somewhere they knew. The familiarity seemed comforting being hours away from home, Juno was terrified this small fear they had would send them back home. Eli told her it would pass and they will be fine.

So there they sat in a booth at IHOP drinking orange juice and chocolate milk and feeding small pieces of hash brown to the kitty hidden in the corner. Eli tapped his foot with hers as he ate, a habit he did that Juno picked up on a few months into their friendship, and smiled softly to herself before taking another bite of her eggs.

"What are we planning to do after this?" Eli asked, taking a drink of his orange juice. "I was thinking we should chill out for today, get a hotel somewhere."

"Do we even have the budget to get a hotel?" Juno asked. "They're expensive and we need gas."

"I have the budget," Eli said. "Don't worry about it."

"Im gonna worry about it."

He sighed as she clicked her tongue as she thought. Her hands held her head and she nodded. "Okay yeah let's get a hotel."

"Thank you for this," Juno said, her voice nothing but grateful as she held the boys hand as he drove.

"For breakfast?" he asked.

She rolled her eyes and smiled to herself.

"No, the road trip," she clarified.

"I did some thinking last night," he said. "If its meant to be spontaneous then I do not know why we all spent so long to plan it."

"Well I started planning money wise and the transportation and stuff. When they started bringing in checkpoints and budgets and drivers it got overwhelming," she admitted. "I didn't want to do it anymore when we had to keep going over the same stuff again and again. Seemed more like a vacation instead of a 'let's run away because we hate our lives' type thing."

"You hate your life?" Eli asked, looking over at her briefly before turning back to the road.

"Only parts of it," she mumbled, looking out the window and letting go of his hand. Her own hands began to get clammy so she wiped them on her pants and bit her tongue. "I hope you know I wouldn't have left you if I didn't believe it was the right thing to do."
