Pulling off to the side of the road and parking, Juno found herself at awe of the place around them. She held Agent Coulson tight in her arms as she got out and grabbed her new camera from the back seat.
"Isn't it so pretty Agent?" Juno whispered to the cat who meowed in response.
The sounds of the river, which turned out to be a creek, and the crunching of the rocks beneath their shoes were the only sounds they heard. The air was still and not a single cloud was in the sky which seemed comforting to the two teens and the cat. The tall trees blocked most of the sunlight except the the long line that led them straight to the river, to Juno she imagined that she was walking on the red carpet. How cool would it be to be a movie star?
She took a picture of the road and the trees and the path to the creek, she forgot how pretty nature could be.
"Hold up," Eli said, grabbing a blanket from the trunk. Juno stopped and watched him before continuing to walk once he reached her side.
They reached a patch of grass, it felt ticklish on her bare skin and she couldn't help but giggle quietly to herself. She set Agent Coulson down on the soft grass and watched as she walked toward the creek. She took a photo quickly and felt her chest soar with hope.
"Look how fast she's going," Eli whispered.
"She's so strong," Juno smiled. "I didn't even say anything to her and she just went."
"She's on a mission," Eli chuckled, pointing at a white butterfly on a nearby fallen branch.
"Oh god I hope she doesn't try to kill it."
They watched as she slowed her pace and crouched, as though she was a lion who caught sight of a zebra. The sun shone above her brighter than everywhere else around them and Juno let out a chuckle when she noticed it was like the cat was in the spotlight.
Eli laid out the blanket as Juno took some photos. The cat was practically touching her nose against its wings and Juno hoped the photo would come out well. The two sat on the blanket as Agent Coulson meowed at the butterfly. It did nothing but flap its wings.
"You know when I fell in love with you, I thought things would be different," Juno admitted. "Like different in the way it'd be like something on TV. But I love you and I realize now that the stuff I craved from TV and newspapers and books was all lust when love could be just sitting next to each other watching a cat play around with a butterfly."
