Sarah POV

I woke up because of the feeling of no arm around me. Then i realized he left. Where was Nate?

Before i could further think about where Nate was or why he left, my phone started ringing. It was Lexi. Why was she calling me? We haven't spoken in probably two months, ever since i started dating Nate.

I press accept and bring the phone to my ear.

"Hey."

I tried to sound nice, but that "hey" sounded raspy since i'd just woken up from a three hour nap.

"Hey, Sarah. How've you been? It's been a while.."

"Everything's been pretty good, how about you?"

"Same here, i just wanted to check in on you because we haven't really been talking ever since-"

She paused because she knew that i knew what i was about to say, so i finished her sentence for her.

"Ever since i've started dating Nate."

I sigh.

"Yeah.."

There was a brief silence for a hood minute until she continued.

"Look, Sarah. I don't hate you, in fact, i really like you and we were best friends. I just find it a little funny that you talked so much shit about Nate, and now you're with him? It just doesn't add up."

So the only reason she's been avoiding me was because of Nate?

"Lexi, i really did hate Nate, and sometimes he really pisses me off. But he makes me feel good, and if you were a good friend you wouldn't ignore me just because i'm happy. Nate has nothing to do with this anyways, this is about you and me. Why haven't you been talking to me anymore?"

"I-i just..i don't fit in with the rest of your friends. And the only reason i haven't been texting or calling you was because you haven't been texting or calling me as well!"

She had a point. I didn't know how to answer her because the only answer i had would be that i've been really fucking busy since i'm pregnant with Nate, but i haven't told anyone yet so how the fuck would i tell her now?

"Lexi, i've just had some shit going on recently and it's kinda private. But i just want you to know that i wasn't avoiding you."

"So what's been keeping you busy then? You cant even tell me anything anymore? We never used to keep secrets, we'd tell each other everything."

I hear her voice starting to breakdown which causes my eyes to tear up. I really missed our friendship and the only way i could get that back was if i just told her everything, no more secrets. So that's what i did, well not yet, but i was going to.

"Lexi, it's so much to explain over the phone. Wanna meet up?"

I could almost feel her smile through the phone.

"Of-of course! Where? My place?"

"Sure, i'll be there in 10."

"Okay, see ya soon!"

(Hangs up)

This felt good, to not worry about Nate. I had to focus on other things. Recently my whole word had been revolving around him, so it's nice to rekindle my friendships instead of stressing over where Nate was.

As i made my way to the front door, i remembered i don't have a car. Shit.

Before i could even think of calling a cab, Nate walking through the front door.

"Hey." He says making eye contact with me.

"Hey? Where were you?"
I question him as i make my way to the bottom of the stairs to the front door.

"Running some errands, grocery shopping." He replies blandly.

I thought Nate was good at lying, did he realize there were no grocery bags in his hands?

"Righttt. Need some help putting the groceries away? Oh, i forgot, there are none. So, where were you really?"

"Oh shit, right. Well, i had to take care of something."

"Like?"

"I got rid of Cal, for good."

What did he mean by that? Getting rid of him as in killing him?!

"Nate, what's that supposed to mean?"

"It means he's gone. Don't worry about it." He replies emotionless walking past me.

"Well when you don't give me details it scares me, I know what you're capable of."

"If you knew what i was capable of, you would shut the fuck up before something happens."

This scared me. The old Nate was back, i don't know how or why, but all i knew was that if he was like this around my child, he wouldn't be involved.

"Watch your mouth Nate. You don't ever threaten me,"

My comment causes him to come face to face with me, full of anger.

"Or what?"

"You know what, you need to grow the hell up!"

I yell as i take his truck keys off the table and exit out of the front door. I wasn't going to waste my time on him, i wanted to see Lexi and take my mind off of his bullshit.

I hear the door open and slam behind me, it was Nate obviously following me.

"Sarah, stop! Just get back inside and we can talk." He yells

"I have plans and i'm already late! Just leave me the fuck alone."

I get into the truck and drive away before he could get one word out of his mouth.

My phone starts buzzing, and thank god it wasn't Nate, it was Lexi. Probably because i was late.

I press accept.

"Hey Sarah, you almost here?"

"Yep i'm five minutes away, sorry about that."

"Yeah no worries! I just got a little worried that's all..see you in a sec!"

"Okay, bye."

(Hangs up)

What did she mean about being worried? I mean, if i didn't know the Nate i knew, the nice one, i'd have some suspicions as well. I honestly don't blame her.

I just don't understand what Nate's problem was. He was fine a few hours ago, but once he came back home..he was a different person.

He wasn't the Nate i knew.

I pull onto Lexis driveway and make my way to the door.

Knock Knock.
