Emilia POV
I sat on the bus while staring out the window. The sound of laughter, shouting, and talking is overwhelming. Slowly, I tune everything out and try to think. I try to think of anything but him, but of course, nothing ever seems to go my way. It's been a year since I've seen him. He had made his choice, and I had made mine.
School has taken its toll on me. I'm the girl that sits in the corner of class, not paying attention one bit. I'm the girl that nobody pays attention to. I'm the girl that keeps herself separate from the horrible pain of the outside world.
I had trusted him, and a big mistake that was. He hurt me, he left me, he didn't mean a single word that he had spoken to me. I thought I had found someone to trust, someone that would not betray me in any way. Yet he had. If I had a second chance, I'd go back and change everything so that I hadn't met him.
The bus stopped and I got up. It was my stop, it was time for me to face my parents surprise.
"Em!" Someone called. I turned around and saw Alexis. Her perfect blonde hair was pulled up into a loose ponytail. She smiled, revealing perfect white teeth. She was skinny, that's for sure. Even from this distance you could see that she has flawless skin. Her blue eyes were bright with excitement.
Alexis was the only person that had befriended me. She knows that I don't trust her, and surprisingly, she's cool with it. She didn't even know that I had been Lucas Gray's Mystery Girl over summer. She didn't find out till she was flipping through a magazine a month into school, so that helped a bit.
"Yeah Alexis?" I asked her.
"Is today the day you find out your parents surprise?"
"Yep."
"You don't sound to excited."
"Last time they had a surprise for me, it didn't end to well."
"Why?" That's Alexis for you, persistent and doesn't know how to take a hint.
"Gray Drama." Her lips formed and 'O' as realization dawned on her. I arrived at my house and waved goodbye at her.
Taking a deep breath, I walked in to my new home. "Emilia?" Mom called from the living room.
"Yeah?"
"Come in here!"
This can't be good.
I walked in and saw Mom and Dad sitting on the couch. Dad's arm was around Mom's shoulder while Mom leaned on Dad's chest. I grimaced and thickened the numbness that I've felt for a year now.
"Em, we're going back to Washington!" Dad announced.
"We're moving again?" I asked.
"No, we're going to see Aiden."
"Why?"
"Aiden is receiving a special award from his college. Not very many people get it. Besides, it'll be nice to see the family again."
"Yeah, I guess it would be."
Not.
"Emilia? Are you alright?" Mom asked me. "You look a little pale."
"No. I'm fine."
Not.
Aiden and I haven't talked to each other since the fight we had in Florida. We've been on breakable ground. I have a feeling Aiden might know what happened, but I'm sure he doesn't. All that he could know was that it had something to do with Lucas Gray. After all, I haven't told anyone. Alexis only found out through magazines about some of the Lucas Gray drama, but I only told her that we had a misunderstanding. Ever since then, we've called it Gray Drama. She can obviously see that I don't want to talk about it.
