Emilia POV
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I just had one of those songs that the phone came with. I wasn't going to waste money on those songs that you could use just to get a ring tone that would be popular. I sat up out of my bed and looked at the caller I.D.
Aiden
I groaned. Its eight in the flipping morning. What could he possibly want?
"What Aiden?" I asked answering the phone.
"Just thought I'd wake you up early." He replied.
"Seriously?" I asked.
"No not really. I found out that they're having a skate boarding competition. It didn't mention which gender, so right now its free for boys and girls. I put your name down on the list."
"What time does it start?"
"Ten."
"And you couldn't tell me last night?" I shouted at him.
"I just figured out, I'm at the skate park that's why."
"Oh, sorry. Be there in a few." I replied, ending the conversation.
I shut my phone and jumped out of bed. I knew it wasn't good to be skating again after I just got hurt. I knew that they probably wouldn't let me if they saw that I was hurt. I put on a pair of jean shorts that were like skinny jeans, except only at my thighs. They came down to just above my knees. I slipped on a green short sleeved shirt that read 'Forever Skater' and had a picture of a skateboard behind the words. I brushed my teeth and hair. I pulled my hair into a low ponytail.
I ran out of my room and made a piece of toast. The crappy portable toaster that we used was crappy. It took about ten minutes for it to get to just a light brown. I slipped on my gear after I finished. I chugged a glass of water then I ran out of the room leaving a note saying that I was at the skate park.
I made it to the skate park with about fifteen minutes to spare. I took the name tag that I was suppose to wear. I put it on my jeans while all of the guys put it on their shirts.
I saw a man stand up onto a podium. He looked to be about in his late thirties. He had dark skin and brown eyes. He had smile wrinkles at the corner of his eyes. His hair was a dark brown and was cut army style. "Hello boys..." He paused scanning the crowd of boys and he noticed me. I was the only other girl. "And girl. Welcome to a little friendly competition. You are each going to show off your best moves in the bowl park. Then the last ten standing are going to move on to the half pipe. Then there's going to be three left, then we're going to have a winner. You should all know how it goes down." He paused taking a breath. "Now your judges are Mr. Hugo, a volunteer. The Mayor himself. And it is a great honor for us to say that, Lucas Gray will also be a judge." Nobody clapped for him. Everybody looked at me and looked like they expected me to freak out because of him. Nope, not going to happen. Sorry to disappoint you boys. "With that let the competition begin."
I made it to the top ten people. They were all sweating and not a single drop of sweat was on my forehead. Once the whistle blew we all begun. I didn't honestly expect them to take me up into the top three. That just amazed me. I did the moves that I practiced earlier. Whenever they put two hands on the board, I put one. They put one, I had none. I actually expected myself to fall and rip open my cut again. Not like that's very likely, I mean, its covered with jeans. That would have to be a long fall if that were to happen.
"Alright judges, put in your answers." The mid thirties guy said. We all waited for the answers. The guys were obviously nervous, this must be their first competition. I, on the other hand, have been to plenty. "And the winner is...Earnheart?" He said it like a question. Not an answer. "Earnheart, alright. Where's the boy?"
