Finally Cal's big day was here. I was just finishing getting ready and I had to leave soon, because it will take some quite time to drive there. As I was trying to pull myself together, Cal was face timing me. It was a big day for me too.
Once I answered her, she looked at me with the most exciting eyes. She was glowing and not just because of her makeup. She looked like a shining star and just so happy.
No matter how hard, there's no way I am fucking tonight up for her. So I will take my sorrow and keep it deeply locked inside of me just for this one night, because tonight's about her!
If she wants to party, then let's party!
It's been so long since the last time I was wasted. Honestly, I couldn't even remember. Must have been back at home.
I did one last big breath before I left the mirror and suddenly started wishing that my mom would be here with me.
I took my awfully wrapped gift for Cal and left my apartment.
I went easy today, just black pants that made my ass look really well shaped and black tank top on straps. I left my hair down and put on some mascara and red lipstick.
Even with all the bags under my eyes from constantly trying to be doing something and not leaving enough time for sleep, I looked good tonight. Sexy, in fact.
Once I got into my cold car, I started regretting all of this for the hundredth time today.
I took another big breath.
It meant the whole world to Cal, so I started the engine and drove out on the road.
I didn't feel like listening to music, so I drove in silence.
Considering it was a Friday night, the roads were surprisingly empty and that made my stressed body ease a little bit.
I parked as far from the entrance as I could, because I wanted to breathe big breaths once more before I leave. Because once I set my foot in there, there's no going back anymore. I have to smile wide, be friendly with everyone, even a little bit flirty, get drunk and make sure Cal has an amazing night.
I heard my phone beep in my pocket, but I ignored it, because I knew that it was from Cal.
I had sent her my live location, in case I drive past this place. So she probably had already seen me pull up here and now she's wondering why am I taking so long.
One thing about me, no matter how big this house and territory was, no matter how many signs were on the road before I had to take the right turn to here, I still suck at navigation. I'm proud that I got here at first try.
Owen would always make fun of how bad I was at trying to understand the map. He would never lose his patience while explaining it to me only for me to forget all about it once I see a map again.
As I was sitting in my now very warm car, my head was pressed into my seat and a little smile creeped onto my face. But soon after, I stopped smiling, understanding that I'm being weak.
I promised myself that I will spend just this one night without thinking about him, but here I was, breaking my own promise in the first hour.
Sitting here was just making me more miserable, so I got out of my car and walked towards the house.
I wondered why Cal chose a penthouse with outside pool in the middle of winter. However, once I was getting closer, I saw a lot of people swimming and yelling already. There was also a lot of steam coming out, so I'm guessing it was a heated pool.
