I write your name
In the glittering,
Golden sand.
I write it
With perfect lines
And grand letters.
The waves don't dare
Touch it.
At least, that's what it looks like.
They simply give it a wide berth,
as if
it's meant to stay there.
I picture a stranger
Coming across the name.
I wonder what this stranger
would think.
I wonder what this stranger will
Feel as they look upon it.
Minutes go by.
The waves still haven't touched
Your name.
I don't want to turn my back on it,
But it's time to go,
So I walk backwards.
With every step, my eyes never leave your name.
Maybe it means something.
Just maybe, I think to myself.
As a wave finally washes
Over it,
I find myself admitting a truth
I've been scared to come to terms with
Until now.
I love you.
