Hopeless Romantics

So there's a girl, right?

Of course there is.

I'd ask you to tell me about her,

but I'll skip that.

Because you could probably go on, and on, and on

about her hair, and the colour of her eyes,

the way she looks at you,

the way she stands,

and her smile.

The way she laughs,

and the way she pulls her hair behind her ear if you find it cute

or ties it in a ponytail,

and the messages you guys send to one another.

The free periods spent together talking and doing who knows what at school,

the silence that isn't awkward or deafening but warm and comfortable.

You probably spend nights thinking about her,

and days dreaming of what might be.

You've been pulled into a whirlpool so strong

you don't know how to get out

nor do you know if you want to get out.

And some of you are lucky, really,

because maybe she's realising the same thing about you.

You'll be so incredibly happy together.

Maybe you'll actually build a future together.

But the rest, unfortunately,

are not so lucky.

Because maybe she's just not interested.

Maybe she has her eye on someone else.

Or she already has someone else.

You've fallen for her even when you've told yourself you can't.

Even if you've told yourself that it wouldn't work out anyway,

you've fallen.

You may take the chance and tell her how you feel,

and maybe everything will workout.

But maybe you don't, because you want

yesterday to stay the same today.

Because opening your mouth would mean that

everything would change.

At the end of every day, your heart breaks.

Every morning, it heals once more because she'll do something,

anything,

and you'll fall in love all over again.

In your heart,

you feel like you'll love her until the day after forever,

because you'll never forget your feelings

for her.

But when you know that it can't be,

you secretly hope that forever will seem like yesterday.

This world is not for hopeless romantics.

In this labyrinth, happiness is hard to come by.

And you have no way of saving yourself

from the menacing walls of this very labyrinth.

Many people reading this might think:

"Heard it all before. Get over yourself."

They might just have a string of

'blah blah blah'

going through their heads,

disregarding this - whatever it is - entirely.

Well they're full of shit.

-

"There are two kinds of people

Hopeless romantics

and

Realists."

---Samantha Borgens, 'Stuck In Love'

So my question is, which one are you?
