My version of the story, Rain

Part 18 | Naeus's doing?

Abigail woke up laying on the grass. Rain was nowhere to be seen. She walked back to the camp. She was feeling uneasy as she walked between the woods, the way back was longer than she remembered. It suddenly got very cold. After walking what felt like an eternity she made it to the camp. As she approached she found someone laying on one of the logs.

"Hello!" Abigail shouted.

There was no response. She approached the person. As she got closer she could see who it was. It was Kane, but something was off. He wasn't moving, upon closer inspection, Abigail saw a red liquid dripping from his body over the log and on the ground. It was blood!. Abigail charged to the camp. On the other side was Stella's body, she had multiple wounds on her. Abigail kneed down to her and touched her, she was ice cold, she must have died some time ago. She then saw a track of blood leading away from the camp. Abigail followed it hoping to find Rain. As she followed the track she found Ciara laying on the ground, her weapons were on the ground just a few meters away from her. Ciara lay in a puddle of blood. No way she was alive. As Abigail got up she could hear blades clashing at one another. She charged forward. She could see Rain and Naeus fighting. As she got closer Naeus punched Rain in an unfortunate moment causing Rain to face away from him. In a single strike, he cut through Rain's back causing him to fall over.

"RAIN!" Abigail screamed out as Naeus pierced his spear through Rain's body as he looked up to Abigail.

Abigail couldn't trust her eyes. this must be another dream. An attempt to deceive her. But it feels so real. As she looked at Rain reaching out his hand to her before dropping it for the final time she broke out in tears and kneed on the ground.

"Why the sadness all of the sudden, my dear Princess?" Naeus said.
"I felt so kind as to get rid of these disturbances for you. They didn't do anything good to you either way." Naeus added.
"You- You are a monster." Abigail said in a frightened voice.
"No Princess, I just do what is necessary to bring you back on the correct path." Naeus said.

The blood from Rain's body was spreading on the ground. Abigail started feeling dizzy as she passed out, falling to the floor.

Abigail pulled her eyes wide open as she woke up with a heavy breath. She was ice cold and shaking, she was paralyzed in fear. She looked around. She was back at the River, and Rain was next to her. Even tho she knew it was just another one of these hallucinations she couldn't stop. Her entire body was shaking. Rain slowly woke up.

"Abigail!" Rain said worried as he looked at her.
"You are ice cold. What happened." He added worriedly.
"I...I had another nightmare." She'd say in fear.
"Come I'll bring you back to the campfire." Rain said as he stood up.

He then helped Abigail stand up and brought her back to the camp. The others were still asleep. Rain helped her sit down next to a log close to the fire. After that, he threw some more wood in it to heat it up. He looked at Abigail, she was still shaking in fear. He could see it in her eyes. Rain set down next to her as Abigail laid down in his arms.

"It's alright, whatever happened it was just a dream." Rain said as he held Abi's hand.

Abigail was too weak to respond, she fell asleep again in Rain's arms shortly after. Rain decided to stay up and look over her. In case it happens to her again.

The next morning...

Stella woke up first and was surprised to see Rain and Abigail at the camp.

"I thought you two went to the river to sleep a bit." She said.
"Abigail had a nightmare, and she got cold. So I brought her back to the fire." Rain said to Stella.
"Oh alright." Stella said as she got up.

Stella walked over to Ciara and Kane and woke both of them up.

"Argh, what is it." Kane said as he woke up.
"Wake up you two, we need to eat, pack up and get moving." Stella said to them.

Rain slowly started to shake Abigail a bit causing her to wake up.

"Wha...What is it." Abigail said in a light voice as she stood up.
"We need to get up, did you sleep peacefully now?" Rain asked her.
"Y-Yes, thanks for helping me." Abigail said.
"No problem at all Abi, but what was it exactly that caused you to be in this state?" Rain asked her.
"I don't know. These dreams come randomly and unannounced. They always include Naeus talking to me or taking some kind of action. These dreams fell extremely real. I can't even tell if it is one or not until the very end." Abigail said.
"Nether dreams?" Stella said.
"Hm?" Abigail responded, she was confused about what Stella meant.
"Nether dreams is magic practiced by the nether to deceive and drive their enemies insane. I only heard reports about it. But if Naeus is the person appearing in those dreams it is also most likely him who is responsible for this." Stella added.
"Is there a way I can avoid those dreams?" Abigail asked.
"Not as far as I know. The only way I know would be to kill or weaken the person who executes them so much that they are unable to execute them." Stella replied.
"Oh, alright." Abigail said in disappointment.
"Alright, we are ready to head out again." Ciara said.

She then climbed her horse, the others would do the same and they left the camp.
