Lamang ang inis.
Sa mga oras na 'to, yun ang sigurado ni Cornelia habang tinatalian siya ng mga Golem--as she heard some of the merchants call these giant creatures---sa malaking posteng nasa plaza, ang pinakasentro ng pamilihan.
"Hindi ko nga sinasadyang basagin 'yon! Hindi ako kriminal!"
Her hands were tied behind her back, the wooden post scraping against her skin.
Cornelia grunted when the Golems dispersed back into the sand, leaving no trace of their presence. Pinagmamasdan siya ng mga mamimiling napapadaan, as if she were a witch on display for public execution.
She frantically searched the crowd for a familiar face.
'Calm down, Elia. Baka naman ginu-goodtime ka lang ni Dave? Imposibleng iwan ka niya rito!' She convinced herself and waited.
Its red juices splashed all over the side of her face as she glared at the direction where it came from.
"Sino 'yan?"
The cold liquid dripped over her face as she cursed out in frustration.
Between the dusty old tents and the sea of traders, she spotted him.
"DAVE!"
Her hopes were suddenly crushed to fine grained sand when Cornelia noticed he wasn't alone.
Dave shrugged and waved his hand, as if dismissing the topic.
"No, but what a shame," Dave replied. "Such a waste of a pretty face for a petty criminal."
Natawa ang mangangalakal.
At tuluyan na silang naglakad pabalik sa kalyeng pinanggalingan nila kanina.
'Ano raw?!'
At this point, Cornelia wanted to scream. Is he really leaving her alone to suffer a crime she didn't even mean to commit? What a jerk!
Her head hung low, her hair casting shadows on her face.
This time, the red juices splattered against her black clothes, right in the middle of her chest.

'Missing?'
Hindi mapakali si June.
Kanina nang pumasok siya sa first period nila, he was half-expecting Cornelia to be sitting on the same seat she sat on for the last couple of months.
Bago pa man niya makumbinsi ang sarili niyang baka may sakit lang ngayon ang dalaga, their other classmates suddenly brought in a fresh wave of rumors.
"I heard she's still missing.
June absorbed every word as if his life depended on it.
They stared at him as if this was the first time words spilled out of his mouth. And perhaps that's partially true, given that June doesn't talk much to begin with.
"The room's empty?" June mused, thinking it was hard to believe.
That doesn't make any sense at all!
"Oo. Creepy, right?"
After having a mental debate about it, June finally decided he's going to pay her parents a visit after class.
