Hye-wol is the kind of person who prefers to plan to be able to come up with the best solution for a predicament she's facing. She's not a fighter but her best weapon is her knowledge. So when she finds herself on a bookstore finding a book for survival, she didn't expect that Nam-ra would be there too. Well, she kind of understand now that she had seen her but Nam-ra wasn't on the educational side but on the fictional side.
For the week she had been going to school, she haven't seen Nam-ra reading any kind of book but textbooks. A smile made its way on Hye-wol's face, creeping behind the class president.
Hye-wol silently scoots beside Nam-ra who finally notices her but didn't gave her a glance. The class president place the book she's reading back on the shelves and Hye-wol senses that she's about to leave so she decided to say something.
"Hunger Games is a really good novel. You should try reading it," she stated after grabbing the Mocking Jay from the shelf.
"It's all about violence and revenge. Children killing Children. It's not a good book at all," Nam-ra responded with her usual soft voice, busying herself by looking through the colorful spines of the books.
A small smile appears on her Hye-wol's face, "It is about Children killing children but for me it's more than that. One should never get comfortable to the life they are living because nothing in this world is permanent. It could last but it's still bound to change. Just like the victors. They got too comfortable of not being reaped again after they won their games to only be surprised when the Quarter Quell revolves around them. Something like the Quarter Quell will shatter the world we know. But just like in the novel, somebody like the remaining victors would change it. Somebody like Katniss Everdeen would help in putting an end to it."
Hye-wol will admit that she got carried away. She didn't meant to give the Class President a hint and knowing the girl, she knew that her brain is already processing and analyzing her words. It's not impossible for the girl to catch up the hidden meaning behind her words. She created her to be that smart.
"But it's a really good book. Each character is very interesting. I like Johanna and Finnick the most." she concluded, giving the class president a smile before walking away.
Nam-ra was left alone, looking at the trilogy in front of her before turning to the direction where Hye-wol has gone through. With a shrug, she grab the trilogy before placing it on the small basket.
Later that same day, Hye-wol sprawl with her stomach flat on the bed, her knees were bended and her legs swaying back and forth as her eyes focused on the screen of her laptop, a pen in hand.
"October 22 was when they bombed Hyo-san," Hye-wol murmur to herself as she jot down the information she could remember, "22 minus 3 days is equals to 19 so October 19 was the start of the apocalypse." she concluded, turning to her phone where the calendar app was open.
"Oh my days, it's two weeks from now." she groan.
Since the day she learned that she cannot go back to her reality, she has been doing an intensive research about survival, specifically zombie survival. She had watched some of zombie movies and even bought books about them. In short, she's going crazy.
She did tried fleeing Hyo-san, attempting to buy tickets or ride the cab to seoul but she always finds herself back to square one. Just like when she tried to buy ticket for both the train and even the plane in hopes of leaving the hell pit but the website would either crash or there's no available slot for her. That three times she tried to ride a cab out of Hyo-san, strange things always happen like going into circles, even the cab driver was confused. It's like the system is preventing her from fleeing--- like she was bounded on the city and she has no idea how to escape the deathly grasp of death.
So when she realizes that her time is slowly diminishing, she decided that it would be better to proceed with Plan B, Survive until the end of the story. It's not like it's hard, isn't it? It's just for 3 days and knowing the continuity will help her from anticipating the zombie attacks. As long as she gets out of the way, she would be okay.
And that's how she concluded that her survival rate will increase a ten if she stay close with the main characters. The only downside is that the possibility of butterfly effect would increase because her actions weren't written on the novel. But as long as she let the continuity play, nothing will happen. She just have to make sure that the script will be followed down to the last period.
So that's why she found herself getting closer with the main characters which was not really that hard because they were the ones that approaches her first. Her being close with the others seems to annoy Na-yeon so much and will do anything to interfer. Hye-wol shrugs it off because it is her character arc to hate everyone.
Another week had pass by so fast with her doing nothing but to research. She even go so far as running every morning to build up her stamina. If she can't fight, running is the best bet. One of the things she learned from her research is to never attack unless cornered. If you still have time and chance to run away, do it because most ot the characters from the zombie book who's too heroic and confident on their skill tends to get bitten. That will be a game over if it happens to her.
"Joon-yeong ah~" Hye-wol called the bespectacled guy in sing-song voice as she prance towards him, "I found the camera."
The two of them were the only student left in the Science Lab since they were finishing the project drone that will later on play a huge part in the continuity. Hye-wol did no contribution but to assist the genius by handing him the tools he needed.
Hye-wol rests her elbows on top of the desk, leaning in to watch Joon-yeong attach the camera, "Woah, I can't believe we did that!"
Joon-yeong look up through his glasses, "We? What did you do?" he playfully jab.
Hye-wol's eyes widen in disappointment and gasp dramatically, "Yah, I was the one who found the camera you lost right? How did it even got to the bottom drawer of Mr. Lee?"
Joon-yeong sputtered, "You snoop on the professor's stuff?!"
"Shh!" Hye-wol was quick to shush him, looking around the room, "It's not snooping around. More like examining. How am I suppose to find the camera if I'm not going to go through everything." and it's not like Mr. Lee have something that he can hide from me. I was the one who created him. - she wanted to add but decided against it.
Joon-yeong shakes his head, returning his attention to the drone he's assembling, "That's a major offense. Going through a professor's cabinet could send you a one way ticket to disciplinary action meeting."
Hye-wol shrug, "It's not like someone knew that I went through a professor's cabinet, it's just you and me so if I get into trouble, I'm going to come after your soul."
The bespectacled guy smiled but a red tint suddenly dusted his cheeks. He adjusted his eyeglasses, gulping and busying himself with the drone as he said, "How about you buy my silence?"
Hye-wol scoff, "I've already spent all of my allowance this week." She might've went overboard with researching that she spent all of her allowance.
"No, not by money," Joon-yeong statement confuses her however, the lad wasn't looking straight at her but to the drone, "More like your time. I'm kind of craving for bingsu and there's a newly opened bingsu café beside the Mall."
"No thanks," Hye-wol was quick to decline, "I told you, I spent all of my allowance this week."
This time, Joon-yeong lifted his head to look at her straight in the eye, "My treat."
"Call!"
***
Please bear with me for stretching the story for so long but I wanted to give each character a scene to build up their relationship with the heroine. I promise, the start of the zombie apocalypse is very near, maybe one or two chapters left depending on the length.
Thank you~
