Ha-ri never once let go of Hye-wol's hand, tightly intertwining their fingers together despite Hye-wol's multiple attempts to retrieve her hand. During these attempts, she keeps running, letting her feet bring her to somewhere as Ha-ri drags her away. The surrounding is pitch black, tall trees and grass stretches from one end to the other. The light coming from the moon wasn't even enough to illuminate their path. But one thing Hye-wol is sure about, they're in the middle of the forest in nowhere. Ha-ri seems to be blindly running to one direction, swatting the veins and branches that obstruct their way.
It was dark and it is difficult to see your surroundings especially if you're running, all of the trees morphing into one blur as they run past them. She could feel the leaves and branches grazing her bare skin as they ran, the spot either sting or itch. It doesn't help that winter is around the corner, the night blowing a cold breeze and slapping them full force, leaving a trail of tingles whenever it touches their bare skin.
From behind, they could hear the heavy and rush footsteps crunching the foliage on the ground followed by their yells calling her and Ha-ri's name.
"Unnie, they'll kill you." Hye-wol panted as she felt her legs beginning to burn, "They'll never stop."
"I can't leave you with them Hye-wol. I can't just run away knowing that you're surrounded with those creeps," Ha-ri responded.
"In exchange for your life?" Hye-wol asks, finding it too good to be true. She's a stranger to her as far as Hye-wol knows and Ha-ri is often reclusive to others. So, her going as far as risking her life for someone she barely knew is something that Hye-wol cannot understand. Who would want to risk their life for someone they met not even a day long?
Ha-ri didn't answer but her grip was still tight around Hye-wol's hand.
She has already seen it, the unhealthy amount of candid photos stashed on a huge box underneath Wu-jin's bed. Some were from the outside and some seemed to be inside of a bedroom but one thing is common to those pictures, the subject is of the same girl– Hye-wol. She knew she wasn't supposed to see it but she did, accidentally.
She shrugged it off at first, unable to believe that his sweet and innocent little brother would do such a thing and she nearly forgot until she saw Wu-jin lurking around the streets at night, following her in the dark streets like a stalker. Ha-ri, was of course being biased towards her brother, choosing to ignore it for the sake of her lovely little brother.
She didn't know it was that bad—- so bad that her sweet little brother could commit a heinous crime. Of course, he didn't really do the dirty part but he was still an accomplice and being part of the plan is just as worse as committing the dirty part. But then again, he's still her little brother that she held when he was a baby, that she babysat when her parents were out. Her little brother annoys her to the bone but she still loves unconditionally. He's still her sweet little Wu-jinnie.
However, she cannot let this happen, not for someone like Hye-wol—- no, not for everyone. She knew the feeling of being stalked, being threatened because of toxic affection. She knew the constant fear and anxiety that every movement you make is being watched. She knew because she experienced it herself.
Ha-ri shakes her head aggressively, trying to shake the memories coming back to her and before it causes another panic episode, she should stop thinking about it. It was all in the past and she recuperated.
"Jang Ha-ri you fucking bitch! If something happened to Hye-wol, I'll make sure that you regret being born!"
Ha-ri was suddenly forced to stop when Hye-wol digs her heels on the ground, "Unnie, please. They won't stop until they get me."
