The five Pogues were driving down a dirt road, John B and Kie in the front whilst JJ, Emma and Pope sat in the back, Emma lying across the floor, still in shock.
"I mean, it's obvious, right? A family heirloom. What better place to hide a message?" John B said from the drivers seat. "He had to know it was gonna get back to us, right?" He finished, looking around at his friends, earning eye rolls and looks from Pope and JJ as Emma stayed silent, staring at the roof of the car
"Yeah. It's possible" Kie said, in a soft voice
"It could also be possible that you're concocting wild theories to help, you know..." Pope said matter-of-factly
"Pope!" John B warned, not wanting or hear this from his friend
"...deal with your sad feels" Pope finished. Earning a stern look from Kie, silently telling him to shut up.
"Bro, you know how I process my sad feels" JJ spoke up from his spot on the seats just above Emma, looking down at her. "Dank nugs and the stickiest of ickies, that's how I do it" he said, earning an eye roll from Emma as she tried to stop the smile from climbing onto her face
"I'm not concocting, okay?" John B argued back, JJ nodding his head and sinking in his seat slightly from his friends harsh tone
"My dad's trying to give me a message" John B said, causing Emma to sit up and look at him
"OUR dad B, you do have a sister remember" she said, motioning towards herself. JJ laughed quietly at the girl who just looked at him, laughing as well
"If it helps you believe, John B" Kie said, ignoring the other girls comment and looking at the boy with soft eyes.
"Look, I-I don't need a therapy session, okay?" John B replied, looking over to Kie. "Look, I'm not trippin' out" he said, continuing to defend himself
"It's okay to trip, bro, but..." JJ started to speak up before being interrupted by John B. Emma just patted the blondes knee laughing slightly and shaking her head at the blondes failed attempt
" Look, my... our dad is missing, okay?" John B corrected himself seeing Emma's look when he turned around to face JJ
"Missing" Emma repeated, but more quietly, as though she was trying to convince herself it was true. This earned both twins a sympathetic look from the other three friends
"You don't know what it's like to have the person closest to you vanish and then have no idea what happened" John B went on to say, "Just wake up every morning wondering" he trailed off, causing Emma to look out the window, tuning out of the conversation
"It's been almost a year" Kie whispered, but loud enough for everyone to hear
Noticing Emma's change in persona, JJ said "Hey, he could have been kidnapped. That's definitely a possibility" trying to lighten the mood
"Yeah, could be in a Soviet sub getting interrogated by the KGB somewhere" Pope suggested, John B was trying to ignore his friends
"Absolutely. Uh... or Atlantis" JJ said, shrugging his shoulders, causing a small smile to appear on the smaller girls face
"JJ" Kie warned, looking back at John B. "Look, what do you think the message is?"
"Redfield" John B said, driving past a sign that read,
"Redfield Lighthouse"
"That's our dad's favorite place" Both Emma and John B said in sync, Emma stood and moved to look out the window
The five Pogues climbed out of the Twinkie and looked at the tall lighthouse stretching up in front of them. Emma and John B shared a look before John B turned back to JJ,
