The storm had picked up quickly. Rain showered the 4 pogues as they watched Ward's car. Thunder boomed and lightning struck above their heads as they waited for him to do something.
Pope pulled a camera out of his jacket and pointed it towards Ward's truck.
"Nice camera. Where did you pick up that relic?" JJ made fun of the boy. His blonde hair was a few shades darker from the pouring rain and sticking to his forehead. The boy gave Emma his hat, trying to keep her as dry as possible.
"Why don't you just use your phone?" Emma questioned, trying to see what Ward was doing
"Well, first of all, I like my antique electronics" Pope said to JJ. Emma and Kie shared a look before letting out a snort of laughter
"You're such a nerd Pope, I fricking love you" Emma said, laughing at the boy whilst shaking her head
"And second of all," Pope continued, narrowing his eyes at the girl, "This is a telephoto. It allows me to get a close image from far away" He explained, lifting it to his eye
"Lord of the dorks" Kie muttered, looking back towards Ward
"For definitive proof of witness payoff, we're gonna need quality glass" Pope told Kie
"There he is" Emma whisper-yelled, pointing towards Ward, who was running through the rain, holding something under his arm
"Yo, get down" JJ said, pulling Emma down with him as they hid from Ward's view
Thunder crashed above their heads as Gavin too came running through the rain. "There's Gavin" Pope announced.
"Where are you going,? You son of a bitch" JJ mumbled as they watched as the two men ran into a construction site across the street
"No, no no no no, I'm losing him" Pope spoke hastily as they ran out of view of the telephoto
"Shit, where are they going?" Kie said, standing up higher in an attempt to see them
"Hold on" JJ said, running away from the others
"Where are you going?" Emma asked, watching as JJ ran down a small alleyway, before he stopped, turning back towards his friends and motioning for them to follow him
"Yo!" He whistled, gaining Pope and Kie's attention, "Hey. I found something. Come here" He told them as they ran after him
"Up here. Gotta go up top" JJ said as he began to climb a ladder connected to the side of a building. Emma started climbing up behind and when she got to the top, she had a perfect view of the construction site
"This'll work" The girl said as she crouched down next to JJ, Kie moving to her right
"You rolling, Pope?" JJ asked the boy as he crouched down next to Kie, aiming the camera in Ward's direction again
"Yeah, yeah. I see them" He said, "Ward just handed Gavin some money. I think it's a duffle bag" He told the others
"Guys, I think this is a payoff" JJ said. He shared a look of concern with Emma, as he grabbed her hand and squeezed it tight in his grip
"Gavin doesn't look happy about something. It looks like he's yelling at Ward" Pope told them
"Why?" Kie asked, trying to see the two men
"I don't know, but he sure looks mad" Pope answers her
"Shit" Pope said, as it looks like the pair start fighting
"What's going on?" Kie asked him, not liking the anticipation
"I don't know, they're fighting over something" Poe said
