15 years ago:

One night, in Telmarine Narnia, a woman in the royal castle was giving birth. However, this was no ordinary woman and this was no ordinary delivery... Nobody knew the birth of this child could change the fate of Narnia forever.

"One more push, your majesty!" Queen Eleanor, wife to Caspian IX and mother to the future King Caspian X let out a cry of pain and pushed with all her strength. The Queen gripped her husband's hand, in desperation, turning it a ghastly white but after hours of labour, one final push and an agonising yell from Eleanor, the cries of the new baby Princess were heard throughout the stone hallways.

Queen Eleanor loosened her grip on her husband's hand as they looked at each other, the euphoric feeling washed over each of them. A small tear of joy left the Queen's eye and trickled down her cheek. Caspian the IX took his thumb and brushed it away before bestowing a small kiss upon his wife's forehead. The nurses placed the tiny baby on the Queen's chest. Both of the new parents let out a small breath of relief, which neither of them realised they had been holding. The newborn Princess stopped crying, settling onto the warm surface of her mother, slowly matching her breathing.

The King and Queen continued to hold onto each other's hand, enjoying the sanctuary of euphoria created with their little girl. A few minutes later a small knock was heard at the door. All of the King's guards and loyal subjects were told not to disturb the royal family, the door crept open and a small boy entered.

"Mama, Papa, is it over?" The proud parents looked over at their 3-year-old son, each one held affectionate smiles on their faces. The poor boy had heard his mother cry in pain for hours on end, but was under strict orders not to enter the room. However, when the crying stopped the young Prince decided it might be safe to enter.

The boy, although small, was rather mature for his age, after all, he was being raised to be the next King. He had long brown hair and strong features, even though he wasn't fully grown he looked like his father. Everything except the eyes; his father's eyes were a soft hazel colour with greeny-yellow flecks. The young Prince Caspian had his mother's deep brown eyes, so dark they could almost be black.

"It is Caspian. Come here." The King coaxed the 3-year-old Prince, after noticing that he was staring about the new addition to the room laid upon his mother's chest. Prince Caspian toddled to his father's leg. King Caspian IX picked up the boy, setting him down on his lap, showing him the new baby.

"I love her, she is my pequeño ángel!" The little boy muttered, hugging his father closely gazing at the now sleeping newborn in awe as his mother and father both looked on at both their children with deep admiration. A soft ambience flooded the room and for the first time, it felt like their small family was complete.

One nurse that helped to deliver the newborn, offered the Queen a drink of water which she gladly accepted after the amount of pain and effort put into delivering the baby. However, the fairly young Queen began to turn pale and her breathing became unsteady and weak.

The young Princess began to scream, unsettled by the change in her mother's demeanour, one of the nurses took the child and swaddled her in a small blanket, placing her in the crib within the royal chambers. The King removed Caspian from his knee and placed him on the floor, taking his wife's eggshell coloured hand in both of his. The Queen left a sorrowful pain-filled look in her husband's eye, she tried to gently lift her free hand to his cheek but when her fingertips grazed his facial hair, the postpartum Queen fell into a deep comatose.

All of the nurses started to panic. The King picked up his son who was asking what had happened in a small voice. He walked over to the crib and picked up his daughter, who quickly nestled in the crook of his arm. Without thinking he passed his children over to the daughter of the lead nurse, who was training to be a nurse herself.
