Guinevere's POV:

Later in the early afternoon, it was decided Trumpkin and I would be drowned in the river far away from the Telmarine castle. It was supposed to be a way of getting rid of us without causing panic to the local villagers. Our charges were ridiculous. Trumpkin was sentenced to death purely for existing and I was sentenced to the same fate for fraternising with Narnians and aiding the escape of a wanted man. I don't know who they think I have been helping but if it was that soldier that wound up outside our house I don't think I was helping him.

Two of the Telmarines soldiers were sent to dispose of us "Narnian Scum" as Miraz called us. Currently, we were partway down the river, one soldier rowing and one holding a crossbow as Trumpkin and I were sitting bound and gagged on the floor. It was an uncomfortable squeeze for the four of us and the boat wasn't that big, and the wooden surface of the boat was barely tolerable.

They had taken our weapons with us and loaded them in the bow of the boat behind the soldier with the crossbow. It was supposed to be a sign of respect, to bury a foe with their weapons.

I don't even know at this point, they try to eradicate the inhabitants of an entire country yet still have the 'decency' to bury our weapons with us. Telmarines have some strange customs and ideas of respect!

I was covered in small cuts and bruises from being tied up and manhandled so much, the most noticeable thing was the bruise creeping out from my hairline, where I had been knocked out last night.

Trumpkin and I made a deal whilst in the cell that if a situation such as this should happen then we were not going down without a fight.

So far, our method was staring at the two soldiers. I was hoping to make them as uncomfortable as I was with my scowl. The soldier I was glaring at did not appear to notice, but the one Trumpkin was staring at did. Perhaps I wasn't as intimidating as the dwarf that helped raise me.

I was starting to feel extremely stupid getting captured. I was specifically told by Trumpkin not to follow and now I see why. The most frustrating part was that I still don't know what happened to the Telmarine boy. He could be dead for all I care but it would be nice to know who he was at least, especially since he was "the fugitive I was helping".

I was broken from my thoughts when a soldier finally said something.

"He won't stop staring." The soldier rowing said as the other one took a glance at Trumpkin. I attempted to smirk through the gag although that just made it more uncomfortable. It served the Telmarine soldiers right for what they were doing to us.

"So don't look," The other soldier responded, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Trumpkin and I made eye contact. We each rolled our eyes at the sheer stupidity of these men. It was one of the most idiotic things the Telmarine soldiers had said this entire boat journey. My standards for them had dropped even further than I thought imaginable. One would have thought that they were more intelligent seeing as their kind was able to attack and conquer our beautiful Kingdom.

It was just even more shocking that I had descended from these barbarians. It seemed like forever ago that I was finally told the truth about my past. All I really remember was being sat down by Nikabrik, Trufflehunter and Trumpkin at our small table and being told everything. I was shown the letter written by the professor and the bassinet I was left in. I'll admit I was disconsolate for a while but after my talk with Trumpkin, I realised the truth. I may have been born a Telmarine Princess but I am a Narnian through and through, nothing could ever change that.

"Here's fine." The soldier that was disturbed by Trumpkins staring said. They had finally decided where they were going to dump us. The penalty for our crimes... It seems like a terrible way to go. I always thought I would grow old and be surrounded by my family, not by water. But at least it's for Narnia.
