No matter what Trufflehunter or Nikabrik said to Caspian, he refused to listen. After the horn and Golden Age of Narnia was explained to him, he insisted on leaving. He opened the door and walked out. The other two followed closely behind.
"I just think we should wait for the Kings and Queens," Trufflehunter told him. Caspian once again ignored them.
"Fine! Go then! See if the others will be as understanding!" Nikabrik snapped, as he began to walk away again.
"Or maybe I'll come with you," he added, thoughtfully, still following him. "I want to see you explain things to the minotaurs."
Caspian stopped in his treks and froze. "Minotaurs? They're real?" he asked, slightly shocked.
"And very bad-tempered," Trufflehunter said with a small shudder.
"Yea, not to mention big!" Nikabrik added.
Trufflehunter shrieked, "Huge! Could probably kill you with one punch."
Now Nikabrik and Trufflehunter were leading the way, the Prince following closely behind. "What about centaurs, do they still exist?" he questioned.
"Well, the centaurs will probably fight on your side," The badger sympathetically assured him.
"I wouldn't, but there is no telling what the others will do," Nikabrik muttered under his breath.
Caspian stopped dead in his tracks, anticipation on his face: "What about Aslan?" he asked. You could tell this was a question he had been wanting to ask for a while.
The Narnians froze. Chills ran through the air at the name. Trufflehunter had told Gwen the stories, Aslan and the Kings and Queens. But since Guinevere was a child. The name of the great King had not been mentioned unless she brought it up. It had a tendency to annoy those who didn't believe in the mighty lion anymore because Gwen believed in him with everything she had.
Nikabrik spoke up, a lot calmer than the other times. However, his tone was not polite. "How do you know so much about us?"
"Stories," he answered at once, unfazed by Nikabrik's deadly tone.
"Wait a minute," Trufflehunter said. "Your father told you stories of Narnia?"
He shook his head. "No, my professor, he..." He broke off as if he was reminded of the horrible reality that his father was dead like most of his family, including his mother and baby sister he didn't even meet properly.
"Listen, I am sorry. These are not the kind of questions you should be asking."
Trufflehunter was struck by thought as though he remembered it was the professor that delivered the Princess to their door.
Suddenly, he became extremely alert. "What is it?" Nikabrik asked.
"Human." He replied flatly.
"Gwen?" Nikabrik hopefully questioned. Trufflehunter shook his head.
"Him?" Nikabrik inquired, nodding towards Caspian.
"No..." he turned his head from where they had just come from. "Them."
The shouting of men filled their ears. They could all see the Telmarine soldiers approaching them, crossbows in hand.
"There they are!" One shouted.
They all began to dash off into the forest. Crossbow bolt's darted past their heads, many of them hitting trees. Trufflehunter suddenly let out a cry of pain.
"Oh no!" Nikabrik called out as he was about to turn and go help his friend.
"Wait, I'll go!" Caspian shouted as he rushed back towards the badger, he went to go and pick him up. But was stopped when Trufflehunter held out Queen Susan's horn to the Telmarine Prince.
