The Next Day:
Guinevere's POV:
I shortly realised that I should probably apologise to Peter for slapping him. Especially since we are going into battle together. I walked through the How until I found him alone in the stone table room. He sat staring at the stone depictions of the great lion Aslan.
"Peter," I addressed him awkwardly. He turned his head to meet my eyes, looking quite shocked. When he realised it was only me, he gave me a shy smile and beckoned me forwards.
I moved across the room and sat next to him. I knew I needed to apologise but I wasn't really sure how. I took a deep breath to gather my thoughts and prepare what I wanted to say when I was interrupted.
"Look..." He started. I hope he wasn't going to yell at me for slapping him, that's what I came to apologise for after all.
"I really need to apologise for what I said about Narnia being better off without the lot of you." Well, that was a surprise.
"You don't have to."
"I want to." He interrupted again. He walked forwards and stood next to me, I guess it was less intimidating. I looked at him and he continued.
"I know you have been here longer than I have, You and Caspian know the most about this, from two different perspectives. I shouldn't have snapped at the pair of you. I was the one at fault and those Narnians... People you consider family are dead now and-" The High King started to ramble.
"You're not the only one at fault, Peter." I cut him off. He turned to look at me.
"If Caspian hadn't gone to Miraz... it wouldn't have gone as badly as it did. Who knows most of those Narnians could be alive? but, we cannot dwell on the past." I explained.
After having enough time to process all of it I can tell that we are all partially at fault for what has happened and we cannot linger on it. It is now our job to remember and honour the Narnians we lost and win back a free Narnia. For them.
"That being said, I understand why he did go to Miraz that night. I never knew our parents, so to find out our uncle killed our father after he had lost me and our mother... Let's just say the news had a greater effect on him than it did on me." I concluded, before remembering the real reason I wanted to talk to Peter.
"I actually came here to say that I'm sorry for slapping you. I was angry and that it was unacceptable." I apologised guiltily.
"No, I deserved it..." He chuckled. "But Gwen, honestly, you have done more for the Narnians than most people put together. You gave them hope, a reason to fight and survive. No one is perfect, but you have done what you could and so much more for these people. I will be proud to fight by your side." He smiled. He gave me a brief hug and walked off to find his siblings, getting ready to prepare for battle. In fact, Peter became like an older brother to me from that moment onwards.
I decided I should probably do the same and go to prepare my armour and weapons for what was to come.
I was the last female to get to the armoury, so most of the brave women, who had stepped up as soldiers, had already been suited up and were taking their necessary positions.
I grabbed the suit of armour that a few Narnians had spent time crafting for me. Trumpkin and Trufflehunter wouldn't let me join the fight without it, they kept arguing that my hunting outfit would provide enough protection during an actual battle.
I kept my olive green leggings from my hunting armour on and a plain black tunic under my metal protection. I still had my simple leather boots and belt but this time I had a solid silver-coloured breastplate with metal pauldrons and vambraces for my shoulders and forearms.
