Chapter Twenty-Four: Nightmare

I start feeling very sleepy.. I wrap my arms around Jinx and close my eyes. I feel myself slipping into my dreams.

2 Hours Later

     I'm in a dark space with nothing in sight.. I think I might be dreaming.. I look around me and see nothing but pitch black. It's giving me anxiety. I focus and I think I hear humming in the distance. Me being stupid, I go towards the humming.

     Something is in the distance. It's crouched down with its back facing me. I stop walking towards it out of fear. It just keeps humming eerily. "(Y/N)..." It whispers in a raspy voice. My eyes widen. That's creepy... I start backing away quietly. I see it turning its head to me. Suddenly it quickly gets on all fours and starts speeding towards me.

     "AHH!" I start running away as quick as possible. I turn my head to look back and I see four more have emerged from the darkness. I start running even faster, my legs burning. I keep running for what seems like a few minutes. I start to slow down from exhaustion. "Fuck, I have to keep going..!" I think to myself. I feel a grab on my leg and I fall to the ground. I turn my body to see what grabbed me, and it's one of those creatures on all fours. Suddenly it pounces on me.

Jinx's POV-

      I feel movement right beside me and it wakes me up. I somehow managed to fall asleep, but now it's gone. I open my eyes and look down to my chest. I see master tossing and turning as she sweats a lot. "Master...?" I say quietly. I turn to look at her and I start getting concerned. "What's wrong..?" She keeps sweating and she has an uncomfortable look on her face. "S-Stop..." She says as she turns again.

     I sit up and look down at her. "Master... You're having a nightmare..!" I say to her. She puts her hand on my chest and starts pushing me away subconsciously. "N-No.." She says. I look down at her confused. What is she having a nightmare about..? Her movements get more erratic and frantic. I put a hand on master's shoulder and shake her lightly. ."H-Hey!" I yell slightly.

    Suddenly, her eyes shoot open and she gasps harshly. She immediately looks up at me and smacks my hand off of her frantically. "GET AWAY!!" She yells. I back up slightly and my eyes widen in shock. She's never slapped me away before. She backs up and looks up at me with a whimper and a strange look in her eyes. She looks terrified for her life. I look down at her in shock, afraid to get close to her. I don't want to frighten her.

     She looks like she's not focused on reality anymore. She curled up in a ball and is spacing out while shaking in fear. I can't just stay away from her. I should comfort her.. I slowly reach my hands out to her to not scare her. I wrap my arms around her slowly. "Master... It's me Jinx. It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you." I say as I try to calm her. Her shaking ceases and it seems like she calmed down a bit.

     "Jinx...?" She whispers. "Yes, it's just me.." She lifts her head up to look me in the eyes. There's tears falling down her face. "I'm sorry for that... I was having a nightmare.." She apologizes. "There's no need to apologize master.. What was your nightmare.?" I ask. I let go of her and she sits up straight. "I was in a dark void and these terrifying creatures were chasing me.. They caught me and then jumped on me.. It hurt.." She explains as she starts to look distressed. "I-I can still see them looking at me, ready to pounce..." She says as she looks all around her in fright.

     I look at her concerned as I grab her and lay her down in my arms. "Master... There's nothing here that's going to hurt you. It's only me. I'll protect you from anything, ok?" I say as I look down  at her with a reassuring smile. She looks at me with a little blush. "Y-Yes..." She hugs me tightly. "Now go back to sleep.." I tell her. "Ok Jinx.." She closes her eyes as she falls back asleep. I close my eyes as well.

1 Hour Later - Jen and May        

     Jen looks around confused. "Hey, didn't Jinx say he had to talk to us later..? I wonder why he never came back down.." Jen wonders. "Do you wanna check what's keeping him over there.?" May asks. Jen nods. "I'll look for him." Jen starts walking up the stairs and looks in the rooms for him. She sees (Y/N)'s bedroom door closed and decided to check there. "J-Jinx..?" She says.

    She turns the doorknob and slowly peeks in. "Huh??" She thinks to herself in shock. She sees (Y/N) sleeping in her bed, but Jinx sleeping right next to her with his arm wrapped around her. "They're sleeping together?!" She thinks. Jen quickly closes the door and starts walking away. "I should leave them alone.." She thinks as she starts walking down the stairs.

     May is waiting down the stairs for her. "So what's up with him?" May ask her. Jen looks at her and blushes hard. "U-Um.. I think we should leave him alone.. Let's ask him tomorrow. He's asleep.. In (Y/N)'s bed next to her.."  She explains. May's eyes widen. "Huh??" She turns and runs up the stairs. "I gotta see for myself!" She says. "Wait! You should leave him alone..." Jen warns.

     May starts sneaking around the corner and peeks her head to look at (Y/N)'s bedroom door. She tiptoes quietly towards the door and opens the door a crack. She peeks through and only sees.. (Y/N)..? "Hm? It's just her there.." She thinks to herself. Suddenly, she feels a hand clamp over her mouth and she gets dragged to a wall in the darkness.
