Chapter Thirty-Eight: Getting Along

Jinx squints his eyes to analyze him fully, but then his eyes widen as he gasps. "Is that who I think it is..?" Jinx asks. He slowly lets me go and fully turns to look at the demon. The demon smirks lightly. "A-Aldinach...?" Jinx says. "Aldinach? Who is that...?" I think to myself.

"You're damn right." Aldinach says. Do they know each other..? Is it a friendly relationship? Jinx never mentioned having any friends back in Hell. "Aldinach!" Jinx exclaims as he runs up to him and gives him a bro hug. Huh?? They're friends?! They smile at each other. "What are you doing here??" He asks Aldinach. "I was hearing about these rumors about you and some human, so I thought that was the perfect chance to find you and reconnect." He explains.

"I haven't seen you for so many years! We used to be together all the time back in the day." Jinx says. They chuckle together. It's so weird seeing Jinx interacting friendly with a demon. I don't think I've ever seen him with a friend. I'm just standing here awkwardly. Aldinach points to me and I jump up. "So is this her?" He asks.

"Ah, yes!" Jinx says as he walks up to me and puts an arm around me. "I apologize Master, but this is an old friend of mine. His name is Aldinach. Aldinach, this is my master." He introduces us. I wave. "H-Hey.. Sorry for screaming and panicking. I thought you were going to kill me." I explain. "Nah, it's alright. Jinx, sorry for tightly grabbing your master's wrist." He apologizes.

"Did it hurt, Master?" He asks me. "No, I was just scared.." I say. "You don't have to be scared. He's my best friend from a long time ago."

        "So Jinx, what were you doing before you came zooming over here?" Aldinach asks. "Ah, I was just doing some hunting, to source out my food." He answers. "Wait, you still eat humans? I thought you'd stop since you live among them now." Aldinach blurts out. Jinx's eyes widen as he looks at me from the corner of his eyes.

      He eats humans?? Is that why he was being so secretive..? Jinx turns to Aldinach and give him an angry look. "She wasn't supposed to know...!" He yells. "Oh..." Aldinach quietly says. "Um, Master? I bet you're a bit curious.. Demons don't have to eat a lot, but there are times we get hungry. So I feast upon humans. Mainly females. I prefer eating their bodies than their souls. Souls just have a weird texture that I don't enjoy much." Jinx says as he explains his eating habits.

        "I didn't know you eat my kind... that's pretty different.." I say. "Does that frighten you, Master.? I'd never devour you or anyone you know." "I-it doesn't really frighten me, just caught me off guard.." I say with a hesitant smile.

"I never intended for you to know about it. That's why I do it every once in a while late at night when you're sleeping." Jinx says. "It's ok.. As long as it's not people I know."

          Aldinach walks up to me and extends his hand out. "Well it's nice to meet you. What's your name?" He asks me. I look up at him and I shake his hand. "I-it's (Y/N).." Jinx smiles at us getting along. "Want us to show you around the human world? It's quite interesting." He offers. "Sure! That'd be fun." Aldinach says with a smile.

At least this will let us get to know each other. I'm just wary of other demons because of my other experiences with demons that aren't Jinx. We start walking around, showing him intriguing human stuff.

We got some weird glances from people as we walked because Aldinach can't really hide his tail and Jinx's furry legs are showing. I guess I understand why they'd look at us weirdly.

"Humans are nosy things. And a bit irritating. You're lucky you don't live here, Aldinach." Jinx says. I look up at him with a bit of an angry face. "Ah, except for you of course, Master." He responds with a nervous smile.

We're crossing the street until I hear a loud honk to my right. A car is swerving full speed dodging cars just barely and it's about to come right for us. I'm stuck staring at it in shock.

Aldinach gets in a fighting stance like he's about to fight it. But Jinx quickly grabs me and pushes him out of the way. Thankfully we didn't get hit. "Thanks Jinx..." I say as he puts me down. Aldinach looks at Jinx confused. "What the fuck?!" He says.

"You can't fight that! That's a machine that a human controls from the inside for transportation. If you wanna fight anything, fight the human. Fucking asshole almost hits my master. I'll kill them." Jinx says.

The car hit a wall after it swerved past us. "Hm, it seems humans are vile creatures. I'll avenge (Y/N) for you, Jinx." He says as he starts walking up to the crashed car. I look at Jinx anxiously. "A-Are you gonna let him kill someone..?" I ask.

Jinx shrugs. "Fuck it. He's doing it to avenge you." "B-But I'm fine though..." I say. "You're fine because I didn't let you get hurt. You would've been hurt otherwise." I see Aldinach rip the door off the car, and yank the person out.

"Hey... are you dead?" He says in a menacing voice. The person opens his eyes slightly. "You almost hurt my friend's little master, asshole." Aldinach says. I think the person is drunk, that's why he was swerving like that.

"Eh, whatever." The person says in a drunk tone. Aldinach gets annoyed. "This is why humans are trash, you annoy me." A giant gust of wind appears out of nowhere and Aldinach lifts his fist up in the air. I cover my face from the force of the wind, I wanna stop him from killing him..

I start walking slowly because of the strong wind. "A-Aldinach, no..!" I yell to him. I feel something grip my arm tightly. I look back to see Jinx. "Don't get close to him when he's like that." He says as he pulls me back towards him. I get confused.

Then, Jinx covers my eyes. "A-Ah, Jinx?!" I exclaim as I put my hand over his and try to uncover my eyes, but I can't get his hand off. "Let go!" I exclaim. "I can't, Master. You don't want to see this." He said. I keep struggling to take his hand off so I can see, but then I start hearing slashing sounds and someone yelling in pain. Jinx's grip tightens around my eyes.

I feel something splatter. Then silence. Just the sound of something dripping. I hold onto Jinx's arm. "J-Jinx... What was that..?" I ask. "Something gruesome." I hear footsteps coming towards me. "Sorry about that Jinx. It had to be done." Aldinach says.

I'm guessing he's in front of me now. "Can you uncover my eyes now..?" I ask. He turns me around and lets go. "It's best to not look at the scene left over. Aldinach went too far." Jinx says as he side-eyes him.

We start walking away in the other direction and Jinx pulls my arm with him so I don't try to peek at the scene. Aldinach walks next to me, I slowly look up at him and he has blood on him. What exactly did he do?

Jinx leans down to my ear. "Don't worry about what happened. Just know, he's also a very strong demon. He is the King Of Fire's best friend after all." He informs me. After all that, we part ways with Aldinach. I have no clue if he'll be staying in this world or going back to Hell.

       But that's how I met Jinx's best friend, which was very unexpected.
