We watched a recap of the reaping's together one one of the millions of TVs around here. There was even one in the shower. Back home, the only one was in our living room, on the ground. And it only worked for the Hunger Games or a special announcement from the Capitol.
Johanna Mason, District 7 was weak like me, she cried.
Sparkles from District 1, stupid name. Why would you name your child that?
Tailor from District 3, looked like he was the winner and he most likely would be.
Rae, from District 11, looked like an ally, of we needed one.
Rine from District 10 was a good target, the only one I could kill, if I could even.
Those were the notable ones. The rest were like the others every year, weak, sexy, funny, scared.
When the train arrived, I got off into the magical world of the Capitol. Strange fashion was everywhere. Cat ears, gems in the skin, even one person with bright orange skin, and one with birds wings.
We were brought to the Tribute center, to floor twelve, the building was shaped getting smaller and smaller toward the top, we had the smallest room. But, it was amazing to look at everything, the view was the best, to watch all the people, noise and electricity. The room was good, amazing and huge. The living room was bigger than my entire house .It had the best view and I stared out it until called for food.
Avoxes served dinner and I ate a small amount. I wasn't used to so much food.
I went to the Training center for the first time the next day, after a long sleep, better than it had been for a long time. I had just accepted that I was going to die. In the Training Centre, I went to the knot typing station. Simple and useless, shows no one the non-existent skills. Except for running and camouflage.
Johanna Mason was there, too.
"Hi!" I said cheerfully. I waved to her, but she didn't respond.
She was shaking, slightly, but not for real. I had experienced it for real, and this wasn't it. I didn't tell her, that would be rude.
"H- Hi." Fake.
"Johanna, right?" Just try and be friendly.
"Yeah, Aven?"
"Mmhmm."
I looked around, no one cared.
I leaned in close.
"Quit the game, Johanna. You aren't like this."
She looks shocked for a flicker then turned back to scared fake her.
"N-no." She was actually a pretty good actor. I would have fell for it, if I had not experienced it for myself.
"Yeah, right. What are you really like?" Curiosity killed the cat.
She leaned in closer, still shaking for people watching.
"Not like this much of a wimp."
Her voice was tough but quiet.
I nodded, saw Sparkles looking at us suspiciously, and I leaned back and went to quiet talk with tying knots I knew.
"Nice to meet you, it'll get better." Back to game.
I looked her directly in the eyes, she noticed Glimmer and cowered.
The Hunger Games weren't the only Game.
