"I hope I'm not interrupting?" Natasha smirked, but I must admit, that for all her faults (and there are many) she does have a sense of loyalty that is an admirable trait in anyone. My drowsy state and silent wincing didn't even disturb any Natasha's concentration, not even slightly. It was from this that I had come to the conclusion that she either had not noticed me, or simply refuses too.
"Of course not" Loki smirked, cascading a pressing glare at me then back to Natasha. "Good" Natasha's words, cold and empty. Like her heart. I forced my eyes to stay open, even with my eyelids falling faster then autumn leaves, for some unknown reason I knew I had to stay awake. It wasn't that the thought of sleep was frightening, it was that I knew I wouldn't want to wake up. I titled my head slightly, still pressured firmly on the rock hard floor of the cell, my arms lying limply beside me, my legs intertwined with one another. I felt paralysed, but then again. I was never one to listen to my emotions.
"So what have come here for? To mock? To ask for help? Either way I grow tired of Fury's games" Loki spoke, a husky tone filled the atmosphere around us, Natasha shifted. "Barton" I thought quietly for a second, who was Barton? Was it a code word for something? Was she sending me a message? "So, that's what makes your cold heart tick. Your partner in crime" I contemplated Loki's retaliation, so Barton was a person, clearly someone close to Natasha. Considering her expression had softened at his mention. I stared at Natasha, praying that she see my fear. "Well, we all know what makes your heart tick" Natasha smirked, shooting a short look at me and then back to Loki. Loki laughed, practically bouncing off the walls. "You think you have me all figured out don't you? You are all fools!" All I could think about was what Natasha had said, was I the key? Did I make Loki's heart tick? Thoughts raced, all to be broken by Loki's word.
"Steve" Natasha and I gave Loki a confused look, to which he explained. "Mr Rogers I believe you call him, or is it Captain?" Loki gaze a sinister glance in my direction, it sparked a nerve within my that triggered an involuntary tear to shed through my face. I knew Loki would want to strike S.H.I.E.L.D at the heart. But Steve, no. I couldn't. Wouldn't let Loki hurt him, not while there was breath in my body, not while my eyes could see. Not while my heart beat for him. I would kill Loki before I let him hurt Steve.
I gasped at my own thoughts, how dark they had turn so quickly. I loved my brother, yet I was willing to save a stranger over him. What was happening to me? Was this a sister spell? I closed my eyes, unable to take the pain both physical and emotional. But I could still hear Natasha and Loki's conversation, over the few moments that transpired between them, as Loki spoke about Steve, I felt my self getting stronger. Like an unknown force was pushing itself through me, the desperate urge to protect Steve outweighed the pain I was feeling.
"What about the captain? Natasha inquired, either having no idea and was genuinely interested or was stalling. "He, is the key to your downfall" and with that's Loki turned away from the agent and headed to the bench at the back of the cell. My eyes were now pride open with my own will power, I was still limp. But the feeling was growing. I glared at Natasha, waiting. Daring her to respond, to challenge him. She simply turned around and left the room, I watched her leave. Thinking of Steve.
Loki had remained silent for at least 15 minutes, I wasn't looking at him. I couldn't bare to. But I could feel his flaming eyes, burning deep into my body. Thinking intently of all the pain and power he could cause and had over me. I shuddered uncontrollably, a wave of pain hitting me as time passed, he was feeding off me. Off my energy force. Gaining his strength and biding his time. My bother, although corrupted, was magnificently intelligent beyond compare. I had to admire. "What troubles you Anthea?" Feeling the amusement burn join his tongue. I scrunched my face in pain, moving my hands to clench my aching stomach, I winced. "You're feeding off me" I whispered, but I knew he could hear. I felt the atmosphere shift as he took less then two strides to be leaning my by side. I locked a gaze with him, tears sweltering in my eyes, one falling out. Even though I tried to force them to remain hidden, he smirked. Wiping away a tear with his thumb and gently stroking my face with adoration. A small smile challenged his lips, "always so stubborn" he commented as I shied away from his touch, something that was a foreign action, for both him and me. There had been a time when I revelled in his touch, craved it, like a plant craving water. It was always something about his presence that was guaranteed to send shock waves through me, to either comfort me or excite me.
At my recent action, Loki's smile grew wider. "I've missed you" whilst using his free hand to take a hold of mine. His icy fingers circling my knuckles, I could do itching but watch in fear. I was frightened and he knew it. "So you kill me" my voice horse and croky, gagging for water. My lips dry with agony and confusion. He looked at me shocked, "kill you? Never" he lay down beside me, crossing his legs, before pulling my lifeless body so that I rested upon his chest. I was helpless, I couldn't fight and I could flee. Trapped.
As he lay back, he wrapped a arm around my waist and lace his head upon the top of mine. My eyelids were heavy, my body missed this, leaning next to Loki. Usually I would have fallen asleep, pining over his steady breaths as he told em a story, but this was different, even though I loved him. I hated what he had become, my body was begging to reject this facade that he had upheld. He guided his free hand up to my face and pushed my mangled hair out of it, won't the hand the was firmly around my waist, he began rubbing soothing circles on my stomach. As much as I hated to admit it, it was working as the pain began to subside. "Can they hear us?" I asked Loki, looking down at his hands. I felt him stiffen beneath me, his mouth leaning close to my ear, his chilled lips bushing passed them. "Yes" he spoke, leaving my ear but not before placing a gentle, soft kiss upon it. "We need to talk" I croaked, still finding it hard to talk. He didn't respond, he just continued to rub my stomach and play with my hair. It was painful trying to fight sleep, and in the end. It over took me once again.
