Do What's Best

His class wasn't as unbearable as you thought it would be. He was busy the whole time, talking with each student about their scripts and making sure everyone's ducks were in a row before the residency began in a few days. He was taking his time with each student, going in a trajectory that would save you for last. You could have gotten annoyed at the seemingly spiteful move, but you decided to appreciate it. You didn't want to talk to him either.

As everyone was engulfed in their work, combing it over to make sure it was up to par for the next and final round of edits, one student raised his hand.

"Professor Ren, can you go over what Ms. Calrissian will be doing for us in these classes we have with her?" He said as he shut his script.

You wanted to roll your eyes at the name, but you didn't. Kylo stood up, smoothing his white button up and pushing his hair out of his face before speaking.

"She's going to read all of them before we meet again, and she'll go through and give her expert advice," he placed a hand on his hip. "Then in class, she'll go over why she gave these edits, and she'll also teach you about best practices for going into production since that will be starting as soon as you get back from winter break."

"I can't wait to hear what she has to say," Katelyn beamed. You looked at Kylo just as he was looking at you, locking eyes.

"Yeah. She's got a lot of valuable advice to give."

The end of the class came sooner than you expected, and Kylo never made it over to you. You didn't mind. You gathered your things, and you were headed out to the door when you heard him call out your name.

You turned around to see him gathering his own stuff, not looking up to you.

"Uh--yeah?" You forced yourself to speak to him.

"I need to speak with you in my office if you have the time," he glanced up at you, shoving his copies of students' scripts into his bag.

You sucked your bottom lip into your mouth and looked down at your phone. You had the time. But you didn't want to. Your wishes weren't really able to take precedence, though, considering your grade depended on it.

"Yeah, I have time," you said with no enthusiasm.

He finally had his things together and walked out of the door past you. "Come on."

You were in his office again. It was still as bare as before, nothing to be seen that would give any indication to his personality. The same boxes sat on the table in the corner.

You were sat in the leather chair in front of his desk, he was behind the computer typing at his keyboard furiously as you waited for what he had to say. The door was closed.

You played with the strap on your bag mindlessly for a couple of minutes as he finished up whatever he had to do so urgently. Finally, he scooted his desk chair over so he could see you, sighing.

"How have you been?" He began, a line between his brows as he looked at you with intensity.

"I've been fine. You?" You said nonchalantly. Well, you tried.

"Busy. A lot of..." he looked at the computer screen again, "bullshit going on."

"Like what?" you clasped your hands together over your lap.

"We aren't here to talk about that. Unimportant," he reached down into his bag, sifting through for a moment before pulling out your script and putting it on the desk. "I wanted to talk to you about your final edits and pre-production stuff."
