The room was very alive and very excited. Everyone was mumbling to the other about how pumped they were to see Francesca Calrissian. Everyone except you, that was.
You were in your normal spot, scrolling on your laptop as you waited, keeping your mouth shut. Kylo wasn't in the room. He was presumably with her, leading her to the classroom to give her a grand entrance. You hadn't spoken since the office. That was becoming the new norm. Not speaking anywhere outside of Newcomb Hall. You had seen him throughout the week a couple of times in the building, and there had been no more than cordial tight smiles and nods when you laid eyes on each other. You did wonder if he had made a decision about New York. But you weren't in a place to let yourself worry about it.
Three minutes after class was supposed to start, they walked in.
Francesca came in first. She was even more stunning in the flesh. She was so tall, almost as tall as Kylo in her plum stiletto heels. She was outfitted in a beautiful off-white suit that had wide legged pants that made her incredible legs look even longer than they were, the fitted blazer making her waist look even more defined. Her hair was styled to perfection and her makeup was glowing. She was the goddess you knew she was, but now she was in here in front of you. With Kylo.
"Everyone, this is Francesca," everyone except you stood up, clapping for her.
Francesca smiled, gesturing for everyone to sit. "Oh, stop, stop," she looked at you, pointing. "See, she has the right idea," she joked. You feigned a smile.
Everyone took a seat, gleaming like they were laying eyes on the Holy Grail itself. Kylo walked to his seat, pulling an empty one right next to his. She took the seat, saying thank you to him with a gentle hand on his arm.
"Thank you all for having me here," Francesca spoke to the class with a smile.
"Oh, my God, no thank you for being here," Katelyn was already doing her best to get on her good side.
"I'm really excited to be here. I love being in the school setting, and I'm even more elated because I've read all of your works, and they were all just wonderful," she looked at each class member as she spoke. "I do have suggestions and edits for each of you, but it's nothing that will alter your visions."
"Francesca's main goal here is to give you expert advice that many young filmmakers aren't awarded when they're first starting out. It's an incredible privilege," Kylo said. You weren't looking at him, but you were pretty sure he was looking at you as he spoke.
"I am such a fan of everything you do for women in film, so I know that I will cherish everything you have to tell me," Katelyn went on again. You were going to be good. You weren't going to roll any eyes today.
"I will be letting her take over these next two classes we have before the break. I'll be laying low because she's the connoisseur, and I know that she will have much more value to say to you than I ever could," Kylo looked over to her, giving a small smile.
"You're too much, Ren," she giggled at him, that hand finding his arm yet again. You were sick. "I would like to go around the room and hear everyone introduce themselves, so that I can put faces to the names I've seen on the works. Let's start with you." She gestured to Katelyn.
"Yes," Katelyn perked up. "I'm Katelyn Culvers, and I am the writer of Anna's Apple. It's a deeply personal tale about my life back home. I pulled from some really deep traumatic experiences to get the story just right." Katelyn went on for a couple of minutes giving her story behind the story.
Francesca held her hand to her chest, giving a consoling smile. "Knowing that now makes the story so much more impactful. You wrote a lovely story, Katelyn," she gave Katelyn an approving nod before looking to the next person.
