"I know I can't give up, tough times I just take them in stride"

   JOE

The blood in my mouth tastes like metal. Every single part of my body hurts. My face, my stomach, my legs..... I barely have anything left inside of me. Except for the thought that is burning right through all the pain. If they found me, they will find her.

I need to warn her. Need to warn her, need her to stay away. She has to flee. Go back home. Or anywhere. Anywhere except here.

I try to open my eyes, but they're swollen and stuck close from the dried blood covering my face.

I hear them talking beside me. But I don't get a word they're saying. Who they're talking to. All I hear is the soft murmur from their voices and a keen ringing in my ears.

I think it's dark outside, I see no light through my thick eyelids. It must be night. I try to open my eyes again and lift my head slightly.

There's a sudden kick to the side of my head and everything is black again.
