Friday evenings were reserved for Sebastian Walker. No plans, no dates, no anything at all other than sitting on the sofa of his best friends flat, watching whatever movie she picked out, and eating whatever food he ordered.
Her boyfriend was here too – it was his apartment as well – and so Friday evenings were always the three of them. Nothing would change that.
It has become ingrained in his itinerary when Charlotte and Elijah had moved in together and spent most of their income on rent and decorating. They had to turn down plenty of group outings with their group of friends, for they just didn't have expendable money anymore. It was sensible; they, like all of Seb's friends, were growing up and maturing, and they had to miss out occasionally to get where they wanted to be in life.
Seb really didn't mind. Sometimes it was exhausting fifth wheeling with the two couples he was friends with, and Nat, much like himself, spent so much time dating, she often had a someone to accompany her when she joined their outings. Besides, in a secretly selfish way, he missed the days when he and Charlotte would have their chilled-out evenings just the two of them, and he was glad to have an excuse to bring them back. Even if Elijah was here too, rubbing her feet.
That said, the movie was, perhaps, the worst one on record. Before Charlotte got into a relationship, Valentine's Day was just any other day. Yet now, she is in the full spirit of all things romance, and so tonight had been a Bridget Jones Diary night, despite the males' arguments against it. Charlotte still won though. His best friend always managed to get what she wanted. Even almost twice her size, Seb knew better than to have a stand off with the embodiment of unmanageable anger.
"Stop frowning Seb, or I'll smack it right off you." Charlotte warned, tilting her head to narrow her glare at Seb from the other sofa. Elijah pulled her ankle in warning, jolting her body, as to implicitly remind her to be nice. She kicked him with her free foot, but the pair smiled, nonetheless.
Seb rolled his eyes at the sight. The pair of them in love. It was still surreal to him, even three years into their relationship, considering the pair spent most of their childhood despising one another. Alas, here they were, living together, supporting each other, loving one other despite every previous hurdle. Love truly did change a person.
"Sorry Chapstick, but you know this isn't my type of movie." He told her.
She shrugged; a movement stunted by the way she was pressed into the sofa. "Don't care. When you come to my house, you watch my movies."
"Our house, babe." Elijah added. She shushed him by pressing the side of her foot against his mouth.
"I brought pizza!" Seb argues dejectedly.
"Yeah," she answers, leaning over to steal another slice. "With pineapple on it, you fucking criminal." That didn't stop her from taking a bite.
Seb grinned at her, the face she pulled when she bit into the warm fruit and turned to Elijah. "Consider yourself lucky, man. She's already made me watch this twice in the past month." He didn't seem all that bothered, however. Elijah would sell a limb to make Charlotte happy.
"I'm gib'in you ideas on 'ow to keep the w-omance alibe, Lijah." She retorted through a mouthful.
He raised a sceptical brow at her. "Not talking with your mouthful might be a good start to that, Lottie." Seb snorted a laugh, turning back to the movie. Too quickly did he lose interest when his phone chimed beside him.
