"NOW YOU'LL MIX- wait. Did you wash your hands?" Eliana looked up from arranging the dishes they used.

Camilo gasped, feigning offense. "Of course I did!"

"He didn't. Not after he licked the batter off his fingers while you weren't looking." Isabela didn't even look up from her book about carnivorous plants.

The man scowled at the Isabela before turning back to Eliana, "I did! But then I saw some of the batter falling off the bowl so I saved it and because it was already on my finger and I don't like wasting food, I just-"

He was cut off with Mirabel bumping him with her hip. "Just wash your hands already primo! I know you wanna look cool in front of her but now's not the time."

Camilo was about to protest when she spoke again, this time to Eliana. "I'll help you with those!"

"It's okay, Mira. Me and my assistant baker/errand boy here got this." She smiled reassuringly at the pregnant woman.

Mirabel deflated at the thought of resting aka doing nothing again but immediately recovered. "Assistant and errand boy huh? You know~ Camilo's capable of being so much mo-"

"MIRABEL!" Camilo glared at her, a hot feeling rising in his chest (probably anger...).

Despite emitting an aura that said he wanted to stuff a lot of the arepas they'll make in Mirabel's throat to stop her from spouting any more weird stuff, the others couldn't really take him seriously. He looked just like a angwy puppy, with the fluffy hair, small pout and all.

Dolores sighed at the two, a small smile on her lips. "You can stay here, Mira. I have some gossip for you."

Mirabel was about to protest, wanting to poke fun at her cousin to get back for all those times he teased her and Dante. But as she caught a certain glint in the woman's eyes, she immediately went to sit down beside Dolores and the two started gossiping in hushed voices. Soon, Isabela also joined, commenting here and there.

Meanwhile, Camilo was at the sink, side by side with Eliana. He didn't know if it was a good thing or not. Especially after that.

He stole a glance at the other and bit his lip. She didn't even look fazed! Was he the only one who felt like melting into a pile of shame at what Mirabel implied? Or was she just better at concealing her feelings?

He sighed. These were some of the times he wished he was more like Eliana. Always politely smiling and reserved, never wearing her feelings on her cheek.

But at the same time, that's the reason why she's so hard to be friends with. Heck, it took him 5 years- 5 YEARS! to see that she was more than the Mona Lisa persona she had around everyone.

A small smile crawled on Camilo's face. It was worth it though. She's amazing...

When he finally came to from his mini-daydream, Camilo noticed Eliana was not with him anymore. She was having some small talk with Isabela and Carmen, who just came back from playing music for the village people.

He quickly turned off the faucet and dried his hands. He took his time and listened to their conversation.

"-eah. The kids even asked if the reason I didn't miss a beat the whole time was because you taught me a complex magic trick. I'm hurt that they didn't think it was because of pure talent!" Carmen dramatically placed a hand on her head as Eliana started to apologize.

Isabela rolled her eyes, smiling. "Don't mind the reina del drama, Liana. She's just kidding." With a flick of her hand, a flower crown of lavenders landed nicely on Eliana's hair.

Carmen smiled as well, "Yeah, I don't mind or blame them... My playing was magical after all~" She wriggled her brows at Isabela, who rolled her eyes again, the smile still on her lips betraying that she found Carmen's remarks amusing.

"Why don't you play for us then?" Isabela challenged, wanting to hear the new melodies her wife came up with.

Eliana clasped her hands and nodded. Carmen sighed, pretending to not like the idea of playing for them after a long day.

Not used to Carmen's antics, Eliana immediately adds, "Please do! It might help with the arepas. If the environment is nice, the food will taste better."

Isabela's eyes widened, an excited gleam in her eyes. "Carmen, play for her. Now."

The other was caught off guard at her wife's demand, but didn't question it. After all, she knew Isabela was excited to know music didn't just affect plant growth and health, but food too.

Eliana turned to Camilo. "Let's start mixing!"

Ever since Eliana and her sister came, the house, especially the kitchen, started to feel livelier. Usually, Casita, despite being a living house, was bare and empty as every Madrigal would leave from sun up to down to help the village people. Only during family dinners or ceremonial events did Casita feel alive.

But now, laughter, music, and indistinct chatters filled Casita with a homey atmosphere and everyone was significantly happier with this lovely change Eliana brought.

And as Camilo stared at Eliana hum with the music Carmen was playing, Camilo couldn't help but feel a warm and light feeling rise in his chest.

"I can't wait to eat your arepas." Eliana flashed him a gentle smile, pride evident in her expression. The whole time they were in the kitchen, he hadn't messed up or burnt anything. An achievement he still hadn't processed.

"Yeah..." Camilo drawls, eyes still on the woman beside him even though she already turned away.
