WHEN CAMILO SAID the children missed her, Eliana didn't think this much. They almost toppled her over from the force of their hugs!

"ELIANA! ELIANA! PLAY WITH US! SHOW US MAGIC TRICKS! PLEASEE??" They chanted her name gleefully as soft laughter bubbled over the woman's lips.

She petted their heads before putting a hand on her lip. "I will. But once you all are settled down. You don't want to miss a detail, do you? Especially since I have a story for you too."

Almost immediately, the children went quiet and sat down around her, eyes gleaming in anticipation. Eliana raised a brow at their excitement, amused.

She then took a deep breath, trying to quickly recall her practice runs. I can do this.

Eliana was not going to lie, she was nervous. It was one thing to perform in front of her sister, at home where she could be herself without worrying about what others might think. It was another to perform in broad daylight, in front of random children who will certainly tell their parents what they saw once they went home for dinner.

"...the kids miss you and your magic tricks."

"If not for you, then for the kids who want to see you."

That's right. She's not doing this for anyone else but the kids who missed having fun watching her.

So why not give them a show to remember?

Eliana exhaled, finding comfort in the memory of Camilo urging her to see the kids again.

She pulled out a small ball from her pocket. "Once upon a time, there was a ball who was very lonely. Because he was so lonely, he ventured to find a ball like him—a ball not too big, not too colorful, and not too leathery—la pelota perfecta para el."

The children leaned forward, entranced by her tale. Eliana started to walk around the children, pretending to make the ball look for another ball that looked like it.

"One day, after searching and searching, even reaching the ends of the world, he found her." She paused in front of one boy who was rolling a small, white ball on his hands as he listened. "May I borrow your ball, Mister?"

The boy fumbled at her sudden question, almost dropping the ball, before he passed it to her.

She thanked the kid, who beamed in pride, then went back to her story. "The two balls found happiness with each other."

She stifled a chuckle at the children who had mixed reactions to two balls falling in love. Some awed at the cuteness, some gagged, some were more invested on where she was going with this while the others were just going along the story, nodding here and there.

"But their happiness did not last long as the other had to go back home." She closed her eyes for dramatic effect.

"But before they separated, they came together one last time to create something to remember their companionship by." Eliana put her hands together, merging the two balls together.

As she moved the two together, the children slowly started to notice a white mass growing bigger and bigger in between the blur of her hands.

Soon, Eliana stopped and on her palm sat a cute baby goose toy.

There was a moment of silence before chaos ensued among the children, each one curious how she seemingly created the goose out of two balls and thin air.

They had many questions like how the goose got a yellow-orange beak when the balls were pure white? Did she harness the colors of the wind for that? Was she a witch? Or was she like Elsa? Can she make Olaf next? A live one preferably?

Usually, the sudden bombardment of questions and praise or much attention made Eliana uncomfortable. It made her feel like someone suddenly thrust her into the spotlight and she felt pressured to perform perfectly. It was tiring.

But for some reason, despite being in that situation, Eliana felt an explosion of warmth in her heart, making a genuine smile grace her features once again.

She didn't even notice how some adults stopped to watch her short magic performance. Her eyes were only on the smiles she caused on the children's faces, especially the boy she gave the goose and his ball back to.

This...

This was fun.
