"HOW DOES IT feel like to have a pen-pal?" Mirabel grinned at her primo as they cleaned up the table.

"It's ok I guess." Camilo replied blandly, making his prima frown in disappointment. She had hoped to get some juicy details for the girls™ to gossip and squeal about.

Well, as if there's anything to say about Eliana Pérez. She's 26. Is single. Has a cat. Takes good care of her little sister. Does all the chores at home because her father is out all day working for them. The basic things.

He told her about his own family too and his hobbies but that's just about it. They usually started their letters with "how was your day?" and ended with a question for the other person.

It was so boring. She was so boring.

After they finished cleaning the dining table and the dishes, Camilo immediately went out to busy himself with the village activities, not seeing his mother watching him from the balcony of the second floor.

She looked worried for her son.

It's been two months and much to her disappointment, there was no progress between the two.

At first, everyone saw how genuinely excited Camilo was at the thought of receiving a letter from someone and they talked a lot. He went to the post office almost everyday to receive a reply from the girl or to send in his own letter.

But as weeks passed, the excitement died down and now, sending her a letter seemed like a chore to him.

His mom knew he wasn't at all interested but she wanted to see him happy. She wanted him to experience the joy of being young and in love.

"You shouldn't rush him, mi vida." Felix once told her. But she knew he felt the same way.

She stayed in her spot, trying to think of a way to help him. That's when she saw it. Dolores and her husband, hand in hand, talking about random things and looking at each other with so much love.

An idea popped in her head and she immediately went to her room to write Señor Pérez a letter.
