Akano dreadfully looked up at the night sky. It was nowhere near as clear as before, with heavy fog rolling in.
"Huh?" Yumi immediately covered her nose after realizing there was something off about the smoke. "Don't breathe it in!" She urged the blonde boy accompanying her, and before he had the chance to react, she constructed a quick force field to surrounded the both of them from all angles.
"Oh, no!" Aoyama, reacting slowly, pinched his nose after they were already under the protection of Yumi's force field. She couldn't blame him though, since the two of them barely had a chance to recover from their encounter with the scar-riddled villain.
"It's okay now, it won't reach us." Akano explained to the trembling boy.
With concern, the redhead gazed back up as the night sky was being engulfed by black smoke. The compounds of the gas were no doubt poisonous.
Akano could only hope that the following team hadn't begun their courage test and the march down this villain-infested forest. Since she was already dreading the possibility that anyone in the teams in front of hers was injured or...worse.
Though she and Aoyama were currently protected by the safety of her shield, she couldn't say the same for her fellow students and her teachers. And it wasn't helping that there was an undetermined amount of heightened pain, anxiety, dread and fear that was surrounding and hitting Yumi's mind like a truck.
At that very moment, there was a sudden jolt in everyone's minds when Mandalay's Telepathy reached them.
"Everyone! We're being attacked by two villains! It's possible that there are more! Everyone who can move, get back to camp immediately! Even if you come across the enemy, retreat and do not engage!"
"'Do not engage'?" Yumi echoed Mandalay's orders with silent rage in her eyes as she recalled her own confrontation with the villain.
As soon as the message was relayed, Akano was about to use her power to communicate their status back to the pro hero -since she'd established a telepathic connection with her earlier that day when she was training with her. But the sudden rustling of the nearby bushes put both her and Aoyama on alert.
"Someone's coming."
"Someone? Who?!"
Much to their relief, it was non other than Yaoyorozu and Awase from class B. It took Akano a second to recognize their features from behind the gas masks they adorned. The two walked side by side as Awase supported an unconscious person on his back.
"You guys," Needless to say, the blonde boy was put at ease at their arrival, more so than he was in Yumi's presence, which seemed to make him perpetually on edge.
"Akano-san, Aoyama-san," Momo nodded, still elegant in her greetings in this situation.
"What are you guys doing out here? I'm glad you're okay, though." Yumi breathed out, though as they approached them, she could clearly see Ojiro's senseless features behind the mask they probably put on his face.
Her brows perked up when they got too close the force field she'd still managed to uphold. "Oh, watch the field." She stopped them, gesturing with her hand to let them know.
"Oh, is that how you're still conscious?" Awase said, tone fluttering with amazement. With a slight smile, he reached out to hand the two the same masks he and Momo were wearing. "Here, it'll be easier if you wear these. Yaoyorozu made 'em."
Akano bowed her head in gratitude, the corners of her lips lifting at the gesture. "I figured. Thanks."
In a hurried motion, Yumi removed the barriers and she and Aoyama put on their masks, since the air was still heavy with the gas.
