After the bell for the end of morning classes rang and in rolled lunchtime, Akano and her classmates were still looking over their options of hero agencies to interns at. Even for the ones who didn't get any offers, there was a list of 40 agencies around the country. And for those who had over a hundred choices, choosing an agency became a tedious chore.
Browsing through the generic internship sites that the school provided, Yumi spent the lunch break relatively minding her own business. So far, most of her options have been capture-type agencies. She figured many would categorize her skill to be most efficient with quickly nullifying attacks and capturing villains, but she also wanted to expand her horizons and test her limits.
So Akano stayed focused on finding the ideal choice, until a certain ash blonde stomped his way to her desk.
"Oi."
Hearing Bakugou's loud voice, many snapped up from their concentration with surprise to see him standing in front of Yumi's desk, and her not minding him one bit.
"Hey, you!" He yelled, his palm smacking loudly against her desk.
Yumi kept reading, but at this point she was more just staring at the page and not actually reading the words.
"Are you ignoring me, you shitty woman?!" Bakugou's glare at the silent girl intensified even further if it was possible.
Finally, Akano looked up from her stack with a slow blink. "Oh, sorry, I thought you were talking to the voices in your head."
A muscle popped in Bakugou's locked jaw and his stare was a mix of rage and astonishment. "Huh?"
The group's attention on the girl was wide with awe. Just how did she have the guts to say such a thing to their very own ticking time bomb?
"Eek!" Uraraka winced, her face and many others paling in fear for her. "Y-Yu-chan-" She stuttered in attempt to warn her friend.
Meanwhile, indignation flashed in Bakugou's vermillion eyes before he started growling. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY, YOU DAMN TOMATO?!"
'Tomato?' Akano gave Bakugou's anger-ridden form a perplexed look. "Ouch, you got me there. I have red hair." She said with a deadpan. The telepath had already noticed how Katsuki liked to throw around his own creative nicknames for their classmates, but he didn't seem to put in any effort into hers, though.
"And I was implying that your behavior is indicative of mental instability." She added, a hint of mockery entangling in her tone.
Bakugou could only sputter as he repeated the insult back to himself 'Did she just call me mentally unstable? The fuck?' His anger was growing more and more steadily, but he tried to control it. The ash blonde had sauntered over to confidently declare that she should prepare herself, because he was going to get his revenge match sooner than expected -now that they were in the same class. He'd wondered how she'd react, seeing that Bakugou never had a proper rival before. With Deku fumbling with his words, stuttering every time he appeared in front of him. And Todoroki coldly staring back as if he wasn't even looking at him, he was in desperate need of real competition.
"She got him there." Sero and Kaminari gave a low chuckle, being careful not to be heard by the ashy blonde.
Ochako gulped. "Yu-chan is so bold!"
"Still, I didn't peg her for a reckless person." Jirou commented.
The tension between the two was palpable to everyone present. Even Todoroki's two-toned orbs were flicking between the two with worry for the girl.
