The royal family was standing in the gates of the palace, bidding goodbyes to Bharat and Shatrughan. Mandavi and Shrutkirti were standing beside Janki, sadly looking at their husbands.
It's only been a few days since they were married and now Bharat and Shatrughan have to go away, only God knows for how many days.
"Mandavi, don't miss me too much. I will return soon." Bharat said.
"Shrutkirti, take care of everyone and also yourself." Shatrughan said.
Mandavi and Shrutkirti smiled, wanting to bid their husbands goodbye with a happy face.
"I will wait for you swami." Mandavi said.
"Return soon nath." Shrutkirti said.
------
"After bidding their goodbyes Bharat and Shatrughan left for Kekeya. Soon Maharaj Dashrath realised that it was high time that he should also leave for Vanaprastha ashram." Krishna said.
"So he decided to give the throne to Bhagwaan Shri Ram Chandra ?" Yudhishthir asked.
"Yes Jyesht. Maharaj Dashrath after consulting it with Guru Vasishth, decided to announce Shri Ram as his heir to the throne." Krishna told.
------
Arya-Sumant was sent from the royal court to call Shri Ram on the orders of Dashrath.
"Pitashree has called me ? And that too in the court ? Have I made a mistake ?" Shri Ram asked.
"A mistake done by you ? I don't think so Raghunath. Perhaps Pitashree requires your aid for royal matters." Janki said.
"Devi is right, Rajkumar. The ministers, chieftains, teachers and representatives of the citizens have gathered for a very important matter, and thus you have been called urgently." Arya-Sumant said.
"Alright." Shri Ram nodded.
He puts the mukut over his head and follows Arya-Sumant to the court. Everyone there smiled seeing the brilliance of their soon to be king.
Shri Ram walked in and bowed to Guru Vishwamitra and Guru Vasishth, and then lastly kneeled in front of Dashrath, who smiled making his son stand up.
"Your son Ram is at your service. Order me." He said.
Dashrath smiled and gestured Guru Vasishth to tell Shri Ram the decision of the court.
"Ram, we all have decided that now it is time for you to take over the throne." Vasishth said with a smile.
But hearing the news the smile from Shri Ram's face fell.
"You are well loved among the people, with your valor the kingdom is secure. Raghukul will never get a king better than you." Vasishth said.
"Pardon my dissent Gurudev but I cannot accept it. How can the sabha-jan even think that I will take over the throne of my father, who still spreads brilliance in the three worlds with his deeds ? Or maybe you all saw a fault in my character, to think I will overtake the throne when my father is there ?" Shri Ram said.
"Ram, the decision to make you king is my own and sabha-jan agree to this. In my long life, I have performed yagyas, charities and good deeds by serving the citizens of Ayodhya. Now I am old my son, I wish to rest now. And hence I am giving you the throne." Dashrath said.
"Pitashree, can't I serve Ayodhya under the chhatrachhaya of your feet ? No one needs a throne to serve people. Don't deprive us from the shadow of your feet." Shri Ram said joining his hands.
"Ram, only you can speak like this because you are the embodiment of Mariyada. But son, due to attachment you are not able to see your father's well being in this decision." Dashrath said.
"Pitashree, how can you say that I don't care about your well being ?" Shri Ram asked.
"I will answer that for you Ram." Vasishth said.
"Please Gurudev." Shri Ram bowed to him.
"There are 4 purusarth of life. Dharm, Arth, Kaam and Moksh. With their deeds human fulfil the first three goals, and after that they should work for their own spiritual upliftment, because that is the door for moksh. The path to salvation is also an integral duty which everyone must perform. Before death comes and harshly breaks all the bounds of a person, one must themselves break them first and unite the aatma with Paramatma." Vasishth said.
"Maharishi is right. Ram your emotions as a son is strong but your sense of duty should be stronger. It is your duty now, to discard the feelings of attachment." Vishwamitra said.
"Ram, what the Gurujan are saying is right. Only you can help me connect myself to that eternal one. Accept the throne son, this is my order as well as request." Dashrath said.
The old king joined his hands in front of Shri Ram, who gasped holding his father's wrinkled hands and keeping it on his forehead.
"You are elder to me Pitashree, whatever your order is shall be fulfilled by me." Shri Ram said.
At that everyone stood up in the court with big smiles plastered on their faces.
"Raja Ram Chandra ki Jai !" They all hailed.

A/NI'm back ! Hope you didn't miss me 🌝
Btw, Why do I feel like even though Shri Ram is Mariyada Purushottam, he has a knack for drama ? Like he could've accepted the throne at once because it was order of his elders but no ! Prabhu wants drama to unfold 😂🙏
The moment you realise that this is the last good thing that happens in Ramayan 😶😶😶
Iske baad toh dukh hi dukh hai.... Hanuman milan ek accha hai.... Fir Ram Rajya accha hai.... Lekin fir bhi dukh hi dukh hai 😶😶😶
