And just like that the extremely long appearing night was spent. And the next day the entire Mithila and palace of Janak started bustling in the preparations of marriage.
The maids got Janki, Mandavi, Urmila and Shrutkirti ready for their marriage. Startling off by applying haldi and oil to their bodies.
After that they were bathed with milk and water and then their hair and body was scented with steam of flowers. They were bedecked with their wedding attire and their hair was braided and decorated with ornaments.
With Alta their hands and feet were decorated and in their right hands the names of their husbands were written. 'Ram' in Janki's, 'Bharat' in Mandavi's, 'Laxman' in Urmila's and 'Shatrughan' in Shrutkirti's hand was written.
Their forehead was decorated with red bindi and designs of chandan. Kohl was applied in the eyes, with sharp knife like end.
The only thing left in their 16 Shringar was sindoor in the parting of their hair and that will decorated by their grooms today.
