"Maharaj Dashrath couldn't believe what Kaikeyi had asked for. He denied, he refused, he begged for he couldn't bring himself to fulfill this promise." Krishna said.

"What then happened ?" Nakul asked.

"Mata Kaikeyi called Shri Ram, to convince Maharaj Dashrath." Krishna said.

------

Shri Ram entered the bhavan of Kaikeyi, and into her room. There he saw Dashrath was leaning on the sofa, covering his face with his one hand. Kaikeyi was standing tall and proud beside him with her head high.

Kaushalya-nandan came and touched the feet of Dashrath, but the one who would embrace him at once didn't even had the courage of look at him.

Shri Ram then touched the feet of his dear mother Kaikeyi.

"May you live long." Kaikeyi said, but the sweetness that used to be there is her voice was missing.

"Mata, what happened to Pitashree ? He seems sick. Should I call Raj-vaid ?" Shri Ram asked.

"The medicine for his sickness is not with Raj-vaid but with you, Ram." Kaikeyi said.

"With me ?" Shri Ram asked.

"Yes. Due to his love and attachment towards you, Maharaj is ready to defame the glory of suryavansh." Kaikeyi said.

"Mata, forgive me, but such words for Pitashree doesn't suit coming out of your mouth. There is no one as truthful, as courageous and as brave as my Pitashree in this world. He can never defame Suryavansh." Shri Ram said.

"Oh but he is. Long time ago your father had promised me two boons, now that I have asked for it he denies to give. Doesn't this defame the glory of Suryavansh ? Only you can help me Ram, but now I doubt it." Kaikeyi said.

"Mata, you're doubting that I won't fulfill your orders ? You're doubting the Ram whom you have raised since birth ? I probably have committed a grave crime. My father is not looking at me, and even my mother is doubting my integrity." Shri Ram said sadly.

"Not at all son ! I... I know that you are truthful but..." Kaikeyi said with her tainted mind and motherhood at conflict.

"But what Mata ? If you ask, then I will make footwear out of my own skin for you. You have equal rights on me like Pitashree. If he is not saying then you only tell. What should I do to satisfy your heart ?" Shri Ram asked.

"Alright. If you say so. I asked your father for two boons. One, instead of you Bharat should be made the king of Ayodhya. And second you must go on a vanvas for 14 years." Kaikeyi said. Shri Ram smiled.

"Only this much ? So much dispute over such a little matter ?" Shri Ram asked.

Kaikeyi looked at him confused, there wasn't an ounce of resent or suprise in him.

"Mata, to give Bharat the kingdom I needed no one's orders. I would've happily given it to a brother a like him. And as per the vanvas, I would be blessed when I meet great sages whose brilliance exceeds that of the sun. I have been blessed from all 4 directions, obeying father's orders, fulfilling your desire, coronation of my brother and merit obtained by serving great sages." Shri Ram said.

Kaikeyi kept looking at Shri Ram speechlessly while Dasrath's eyes got filled with tears.

"Mata, only this much you wanted ? Or is there something more ?" Shri Ram asked.

"Not at all son, I swear on Bharat, I swear on you, only this much I wanted. Now you convince your father to allow you to go to the forest and save himself and Suryavansh from taints and defamation." Kaikeyi said.

"Pitashree, I have read your mind and it's conflicts. It will be best of all, that I go for vanvas. Now I shall take your leave and bid goodbyes to the rest." Shri Ram said and bowed to them before leaving.
