Two months quickly passed, Peter and May went back home, and Tony turned to his work in between tutoring Peter through live video. While Tony was in the lab, Bree sat upstairs on the edge of the bed, staring at a pregnancy test she'd just taken, hoping that it would be positive.
When the timer on her phone went off, Bree picked up the test and looked at it, only to flop onto her back with a sigh. It was negative. It's not going to happen right away, she reminded herself. We just have to keep track of things and keep trying... but why do I feel so disappointed?
"Mrs. Stark." Jarvis' voice sounded in the otherwise quiet room. "Might I suggest ovulation tests? It's a far more effective way of tracking your cycles."
"I've been looking for an app to download on my phone," she commented. "But I haven't found one that I like."
"What about the physical tests? I see no order history for them. Shall I order them?" Jarvis offered.
"I've never used them before," Bree shrugged. "Go ahead."
"I have placed the order for you." Jarvis confirmed.
Bree smiled as she stood and put the negative test in the trash. "Thanks Jarvis," she said softly, still feeling disappointed that it hadn't happened for them yet. She laid on the bed just as she heard the phone beginning to ring. "Jarvis, who's calling?"
"A Director Fury, Mrs. Stark."
"Answer," she told the AI, knowing that Tony would be too busy to do so.
"Tony, we need to talk." Fury said, not knowing it was Bree.
Bree raised an eyebrow. "Sorry, Tony is in his lab. This is Bree Stark speaking. Can I leave a message or is it urgent?"
"Bree? This is Director Fury. Is Tony there? It is urgent." Fury told her.
"Let me walk down to the lab, just a moment," Bree told him as she stood from the bed and left their bedroom.
"Congratulations on your marriage. You cost us a lot of money." Fury told Bree.
Bree chuckled. "Now how did I cost you money?" She asked as she made it to the first floor and walked into the kitchen to get a bottle of water before going downstairs.
"We have all had bets for sometime on how long Tony would stay single." Fury explained, amused.
"I didn't know that," Bree laughed. She made it down to the lab and pushed in the key code on the door to get inside.
"I'm sure you know Agent Coulson? He won a small fortune." Fury muttered.
Tony looked up when Bree came in. Quickly getting up, he walked over to greet her with a kiss. "I'm almost finished, but if you're here to convince me to take a break, my arm could be twisted." He smirked.
"I brought you a bottle of water," she said softly, leaning forward to kiss him again. "You also have a phone call on hold."
"Thank you." Tony said as he took the bottle and set it down. "The call can hold for a while longer."
She narrowed her eyes at him. "He said it was urgent."
"Who? Is it Coulson again?" Tony groaned.
Bree shook her head. "Director Fury."
"Ugh." Tony groaned. "Alright, put him on."
"Jarvis, connect Director Fury to the lab comms please," Bree said.
"About time... I've been on hold for longer than I would like, Stark," Fury grumbled.
"Make it quick, I've already been talking with you longer than I'd like, Fury." Tony fired back.
