I wake up to the feel of a sharp stop. Looking around I see Kai at the steering wheel, looking concentrated while his jawline tenses a bit making it look sharper and sexier than ever.
"K-Kai? Where are we going?"
His features soon relax as he looks over at me. "I didn't want you to miss out on school this early for me. So I took your keys from your pocket and I'm driving you home." He says in a final voice.
Without a word I nod. He surprises me by putting a soft, warm hand on my thigh, staying concentrated on the road ahead. Laying my head onto the head rest I stare ahead while my hand lays on top of Malachi's. Then I remember that my stuff was at Kay's.
"Um, could you drop me at Kaylie's house?" I give him a quick glance. "Yea of course!" He made a quick turn and drove down Kaylie's road.
Popping the lock, he went out first to open my door on the other side. "Thanks." I give him a shy smile as we stare at each other for a bit. Without a word gives me the keys, kisses my cheek and starts to walk away.
"Wait! Kai!" he turns around and cocks his head. "How are you getting back?"
"My grandma is going to pick me up."
I nod and watch as he strides away. Walking through Kay's house side door, I quietly make my way up to her room and slide under the sheets without disturbing her. My heavy eyes find relief as I'm swallowed by the night.
"Babesss!!" A faint voice calls, "Wake up!"
Opening one eye I look up to find a smiling Kaylie. "Ugh!" I groan and put a pillow over my head "5 more minutes." The pillow instantly gets ripped off my face, letting the sunlight flood into my eyes.
"Kay you are such a bitchh!!" She laughs and ruffles my hair. Before I can get her back she runs down the hall into her brothers room. Getting up swiftly I run after her and burst into Christopher's room.
"Oh my..."
Me and Kay stand there wide eyed as we stare at Chris. His hands are underneath the sheets and there is a groan on his computer and he stares at us in shock also. "WHAT. THE. HELL. ARE YOU GUYS DOING IN MY DAMN ROOM!" He half yells and half whispers.
We snicker and run off back into Kay's room. Closing the door behind us we slide to the floor and instantly start dying of laughter. "Ew, why did I have to witness that!" Kylie wipes a stray tear from her eye. Recovering from our laughing fit, we finally decide to get ready.
Wanting to wear something different from what I'd usually wear. "Kaylie honeyy!!" I call out, knowing she hates that. "WHAT? AND DON'T CALL ME THAT!" I smile at my annoyingness. "I'm gonna wear the polka-dot romper with those black Toms you have since I forgot mine." I could almost hear Kay roll her eyes but she grunted which I took as a yes and waited for her to get out the bathroom.
7:45 came and it was time for us to leave. "Madi?" Kaylie asks slowly as I start the ignition for our 10 minute drive to school. "Yea?"
She stays quiet for a minute and then starts to speak. "You went out last night." She says looking out the window. " What happened?"
I think about last night and wonder if I should tell her the event that took place. Would Kai care? But then again she's my best friend...
"Something happened to Kai's sister," I tell her "She was in the hospital and he was at his breaking point and called me." Kay made an "Oh" shape with her mouth. "Is she going to be okay?" I nod and smile at the thought of that sweet little girl. "She's a strong little fighter Kay, She'll be okay." For the rest of the ride to school we sing to 'Trap Queen' and laugh as we mess up some lyrics.
