Waking up I ask myself what have I gotten myself into. I only asked her to the dance because I wanted to see what Brooks would say. She also didn't reply to my text which pretty much pissed me off. Deciding on driving my matte Audi R8, I speed off onto the highway. My phone rings on the bluetooth of my car which I answer with a touch of a button. "What's up?" I ask and my dad answers. "Xavier I have cleared up things with the fight that happened. I hope you understand how disappointed I am that you went out of your way to beat up those kids when you know precisely what damage you could've caused."
I sigh as I stop at a stoplight. "Dad they came on me, I had to defend myself. I know that I could've killed them but luckily that didn't happen." Dad chuckles on the other end making me a bit confused. I pressed on the gas making the car roar. "Son, from what I heard it sounds like they needed a good beating." I laughed a bit and told him I'll stay out of trouble. "I'm proud of you. For knowing that you can do better. Please don't scratch your new car, I paid a good amount for that beauty." I nodded but remembered that he couldn't see me. "Of course dad, I love this one trust me I won't ruin it."
We hang up and I reach in time. People stare and crowd around as I get out. "DUUDE THATS THE R8!" Some guy I don't even know says. My jock gang comes up and we handshake. "Mann you're loaded!" Wolf a teammate points out. "Yea man I know." We walk together in school as a few girls throw themselves helplessly at me only to get rejected by me and the group. I drift off from them when I spot Kaylie calling my name.
"Zav!" Kaylie calls out and I comply. When I walk over my eyes wonder and I see Brooks and she looks amazing. She must've done something with her hair because she looked really good. "Zav?" I turn back to reality and Kaylie is snapping her fingers in front of my face. "Sup babe?" I put my hands in my black jeans pockets. "You're coming with me, Maddie and Malachi to the movies tonight." I am sort of shocked that she just commanded me. I'm about to be an asshole but I see the shocked expression on Brooks face too. "Sure." I say in a chill tone but I instantly feel ways when I see Brooks annoying boyfriend kiss her. "Baby I'll see you at lunch." He whispers and she smiles as he leaves.
In the spur of moment I kiss Kaylie but it isn't a true kiss. I did it because I could and because I needed to get Brooks out of my head. No offence to Kaylie but she was an alright kisser. I wasn't even fully focused on the kiss. Looking over to Brooks, she looks back at me breathing deeply. My hands move to Kaylies cheeks and I kiss her even more. Kaylie is the one to break the kiss by saying 'wow!'. I almost laugh.
"You saw that right!" She whispers horribly loud to Brooks. This time she gives the fakest smile I've ever seen and walks off. "Ugh what is her deal?!" Kaylie exclaims exasperated. "I'll go talk to her." But before I can go she stops me. "Why do you only let her call you Xavier?" Because I want her only to say it. It definitely didn't sound as good coming out of her mouth. I shrug. "I want her to. Do you have a problem with that?" I ask her licking my lips. She quickly shakes her head no and watches me jog off after Brooks.
There she is sitting in the stairwell alone.
"Brooks!"
"Go away."
I sit down beside her instead. "Do you need a hearing aid or something?" She tells me quite angrily. Shaking my head, I make her face me. "Whats wrong?" Almost instantly she laughs. "Really? Are you fucking serious?!" I make a face not understanding what she is getting at. "You're using my best friend for god knows what and I have to sit here and watch because she will think I'm trying to sabotage you guys or something." Brooks glares my way. "What makes you think I don't like her?" I challenge.
"Well that message you sent for one and two you-you...You don't even look like you actually like her!" She sputtered. I laugh at this knowing that she was on the right track but who am I to tell her that she is right? "You don't know anything Brooks." Rolling her eyes she gets up and brushes off her hands. "Whatever you know that I don't, it better not be hurting my friend."
