"Okay Kay, so you think I should wear this one?"
Kaylie came over early and was laying on my bed on her phone while I decided which outfit to wear to school. "Dude you look fine in anything!" She groaned and face palmed. Rolling my eyes (seemingly I do this a lot), I decide on a floral dress and a denim jacket. Putting my hair into a bun and applying mascara, I'm done.
"Finally," Kay piped up and jumped off my bed, "your mom made breakfast! Let's go eat!!" She said happily dragging me me downstairs. I awkwardly took a seat beside Brad while he acted like I wasn't there. "Hi darlings." My mom sang out.
"Hi Mrs.Brooks!" Kaylie chirped. I simply said hi and ate my breakfast quietly while Kaylie talked about different guys and my mom hummed to another random song. "Let's go kids!" Dad finally saved me from the awkwardness and I fled to the car. Sadly I didn't escape it for long though because in came Bradley as he plopped himself right beside me in the back seat. Carlton and Garrett decided not to go to school today, so there were more free seats in the front.
"You are awfully quiet." He says looking at me.
My jaw tenses. "Maybe I just don't feel like talking." I stare anywhere but his grey eyes. All of a sudden I feel a warm hand travelling up my thighs. I gasp and slap his hand. "What the hell?!" I say in a harsh whisper, quickly looking over at Kaylie who had her earphones in.
"That seemed to get your attention." He smirks and pats my head. I roll my eyes as my phone vibrates.
From Malachi:
So that's a yes?I face palm myself because I almost forgot about Malachi. I quickly read over what my brothers texted him yesterday and smile that they didn't ruin my life. I take a deep pissed off breath as Brad puts his arm over my shoulders and reads the message. "Mm I think you should say yes." This time I smirk at him and quickly text back Malachi.
To Malachi:
That's a yes ;)Almost immediately he messaged back, making me smile.
From Malachi:
Well I guess I'll see you later love <3I send him back a heart as the car comes to a stop. "Okay kids! See ya guys later!" We wave him goodbye and he drives away. Before Brad leaves he holds my lower back and whispers 'Be good now'. Kaylie turns away but I can see the tiny smile she carries. Glaring at Brad I walk away dragging Kaylie with me.
"Is there something going on between you two?"
I bite back my memory of the night before but come to the realization that this IS my best friend we're talking about.
"He kissed me." I blurt out and cover my with my hand to hide from her reaction. Surprisingly she didn't act how I expected her to. Slowly looking at her, she looks as if she waiting for me to say something else.
"And?" She asks looking at me.
I shook my head in disbelief. "And what?" I ask a little frustrated, "I don't think you heard what I said. I said we k-" she cut me off holding out her finger. "I'm not deaf I heard what you said. I was just expecting more."
Giving her a strange look I continue. "Now he's acting like nothing happened. The last thing he said before he started acting like nothing happened was 'I never really considered us family either.' And that's about it. I'm just so confused Kay."
She took in what I was saying and assessed it. "He clearly likes you if you haven't already realized. But the real question is do you like him?"
My mind reels at all this and I decide not talking about it was what I wanted at the moment. "You know what Kay let's just not talk about this right now and get through the day." She nodded in agreement and we went to class.
