My mothers back is turned to me as I approach her slowly. Hearing a slight sniffle, I touch her shoulder lightly which makes her jump in shock. "M-Madeline?" She quickly wipes her tears but it's too late. I take a seat beside her on the queen size bed and take her hand. "Mom? What happened?" My voice is full of worry.Giving a sad smile she pats my hand and kisses my hair. "Darling, don't worry about it. Just a little thing that I'm trying to figure out right now." I shake my head not understanding but she continues.
"Me and Paul are going through something right now. I don't want you to be concerned because it will all be alright." She looks as if she's trying to believe her own words at the moment. I suddenly give my mom a warm hug and a sob escapes from her mouth."It's not okay! It's not!" I smoothen out moms hair, giving her a moment to cry it all out. "Mom, we can figure this out! I know we can." Nodding her head, she lets go of me and with the back of her sleeve wipes her tears.
Passing her a tissue from the nightstand, my phone vibrates in my pocket and I give it a quick glance but stop and reread.
I'm so sorry Madeline, I don't even think words can explain. Kaylie told me you knew and I feel horrible for jeopardizing both of your relationships. Words can't express how wrong I was to have a part in that kiss, I just want you to know... I was planning on telling you I loved you but the moment got ruined. I do love you Madeline and I will do everything to get you back! :( <3
-KaiRolling my eyes I decide not to respond.
"Who was it Hun?" My mom asks curiously.
I sigh and shake my head. "It was no one worth my time to be honest."
Little did I know that Malachi was serious about trying everything...
Next day...
Making my way downstairs, I have my Beats on and I'm blasting Legend by drake. My eyes widen as I see who's sitting at our island.
"Hi Madeline!" The girl I once use to call my sister (not literally but it felt like it); says nonchalantly. Next to her Brad is smiling at her as if he's seen Jesus. I can't help but break out into a smile as Jess embraces me in a bear hug. I start in a coughing fit and she lets go, giving me an apologetic smile.
"I've missed you so much Maddie Bear!!" Her eyes watering.
I don't know how this can be... How can she be standing her right now?
I was there when it happened...
"I missed you too Jessafish!" She breaks into a grin and we hug once more. But soon my smile fades as Jess sits next to Bradley - his eyes never leaving her movement - and leans her head onto his shoulder, smiling up at him. Mom places a plate of bacon and eggs in front of us, giving me something to pick at. I can't help but glance up slightly at what they might be doing.
"We have to go to that field were we shared our first kiss!" She whispers excitedly not knowing I can fully hear them. "Of course Jess! Anything for you babe." He tells her but looks at me - his smile faltering a little as if he realized something - then turns back to Jess. Giggling she pokes his cheek and snuggles closer to him.
Feeling something different in my stomach as if there's a churning of something, I suddenly push away from the table causing the chair to tip over; surprising me and everyone else.
"I um... I'm not feeling well." My words rush out in a jumble and I run upstairs.
What the heck! What was that!!?? I contemplate with myself.
The door opens and I freeze from my pacing. "Sis are you okay?" Max asks to my relief that it's not someone else. "Yeah yeah I'm fine." I gulp down the lump forming in my throat. "Mads I've known you for my whole life and I also know very well when you aren't okay!" He sits on my desk chair, "so come on, tell me what's wrong little sis."
