I couldn't help but chuckle at the look on Micah's face as I watched her sitting at the table with a glass of blood in front of her. We had all been sitting around her for the past 10 minutes watching her stare at the full glass waiting for her to take a drink.

"I am not drinking that" she said looking at me with a glare "it looks and smells disgusting."

"You have to at least try it." Amber said with a smirk "it's not that bad." she said, taking a drink of the blood in her glass.

"You are vampire, I am wolf" Micah said with a huff. "Why don't you take a bite of the elk we had for dinner last night."

"No thank you" Amber whispered with a small smile as she pushed the glass closer to Micah's hands.

"I still don't get why she has to try it" Andy said in confusion "She's never needed it before."

"Besides, isn't she only a vampire when she is a wolf?" Beth asked quietly.

"She has to try it, because science." Sue said with a smirk "we know she's never needed it before, according to Ann barely 5% of her wolf has vampire DNA, which is probably why she has never needed blood."

"But she is vampire" Amber said "and the fact that she has never had a drink of blood before might explain why her wolf is so small."

"Seriously?" Micah asked looking up with big eyes.

"Yes" Amber said with a shrug "When you don't eat food, which is your main source of nutrients, you lose weight, body mass, and muscle. The same is true for vampires and blood, which is our only source of nutrients. My guess is that because you are only 5% vampire your body is still growing with food, but it is being stunted because it is not getting everything it needs."

"Fine" she grumbled, grabbing the cup and bringing it to her mouth "I can't believe I'm doing this." she said before taking a large gulp and swallowing it with a gag.

"Delicious right?" Amber asked, laughing at the horrified look on Micah's face.

"I'm gonna vomit," Micah whispered, covering her mouth with her hand.

"You better not" Ann said, looking at her with sympathy. "You need to drink that whole cup and keep it in your stomach for 30 minutes so I can draw more blood and see how it reacts with your human body, and then do the same as a wolf."

"Just picture that elk you ate last night." Amber said grinning as Micah groaned and brought the cup to her mouth.

"I'm glad you are getting so much enjoyment out of this." Micah said, shooting her a glare as she took a deep breath and another big gulp before setting the glass down.

"You're doing great." I said kicking Amber as she started laughing. "Two more gulps and you are done." It took another 5 minutes before Micah was able to choke down the last of the glass and then pushed it away from her with a groan.

"Get that thing away from me." she said with a sigh "How do you drink that everyday?"

"I find it delicious." Amber said with a huff and a smile as she sat next to Micah "but you did good, I know that wasn't easy."

We pulled out a deck of cards and tried to distract Micah and her churning stomach. As Andy, Beth, and Sue kept her distracted Amber pulled me into the corner of the room and leaned in close to whisper to me.

"After Ann draws blood from Micah we need to get her hooked up to all the doctory things that Ann does." she said pulling back to look at me.

"Doctory things" I repeated with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know" she said in exasperation "I'm not a doctor, but ingesting blood isn't good for humans, and you said that Micah heals like a human. I know that she is a wolf, but I still think we should err on the side of caution with this one."

"I agree" I said looking over at Micah who was laughing at something Andy had said as she laid a card on the table "better safe than sorry, I'll go talk to Ann." I said walking to the infirmary where I found Ann preparing a room.

"How can I help you Avery?" she asked, looking up at me with a small smile.

"I was going to talk to you about how Micah might need medical attention after you draw her blood" I said looking around the room "was one of the wolves hurt?" I asked with a wrinkled brow.

"What kind of doctor would I be if I wasn't aware of things going on around me." she said with a snort "This is for Micah, Avery. I know what ingesting blood does to a human." she said, rolling her eyes as a timer went off "I will take care of your mate, have a little faith." she said patting my shoulder as she walked past me with the tools to draw Micah's blood.

"Sorry." I mumbled with a sheepish smile as I followed behind her and watched as she prepared to take Micah's blood in both human and wolf form.

"The results should be back before the night is out." she said, leading a quiet Micah into the next room. "We can start the process over again with your wolf tomorrow." she said, smiling at Micah's groan.

"I have a feeling you will enjoy the process more tomorrow." Amber said with a small grin.
"What do you mean?" I asked as I watched Ann attaching an IV to Micah's arm.

"She is 0% vampire in this form" Amber said with a shrug "the chances of her liking blood in this form are the same as you liking it."

"Then why did we do this?" I asked in confusion.

"We still had to see how her body reacts to the blood," Amber said with a shrug, "especially her wolf form. "

"I guess." I mumbled as I walked to the side of a now sleeping Micah and sat on the chair next to her. "I'm gonna stay here tonight, watch over her and all the doctory stuff Ann did." I said smiling as Amber walked out of the infirmary.
