Avery-Part 5

I can't get that sentence out of my head Tess said as we laid in bed later that night struggling to fall asleep.

"Neither can I" I said running my fingers through Micah's hair as she slept next to me curled up into my side. "You could tear us limb to limb." I said with a sigh kissing Micah's forehead as she turned around in my arms.

"I'm sorry" she whispered looking up at me with big eyes a tear rolling down her cheek.

"Hey, please don't cry." I said softly wiping the tear from her cheek "what are you sorry for?"

"I know why you can't sleep" she sniffed "I didn't mean it, I was just scared."

"I don't want you to apologize for the way that you felt out there okay my love?" I asked after a few seconds "we messed up, and that was our fault, not yours."

"But you didn't mess up." she said sitting up to look at me "you were trying to make me feel comfortable and I overreacted."

"That's not how I remember it" I said smiling when she opened her mouth to argue with me again "I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one." I said interrupting her with an overly dramatic sigh making her roll her eyes and laugh. I pulled her down next to me and rubbed her back until she fell asleep and watched her for the rest of the night.

She stirred in bed when the sun rose about 5 hours later and sat up to look at me with accusatory eyes. "Did you sleep?" she asked.

"I did not," I said with a guilty smile "but I'm fine!"

"Avery" she whined looking at me with big eyes "I overreacted!"

"I guess I'm overreacting too" I said with a wink smiling as she huffed and crawled out of bed.

"Fine" she huffed looking up at me with pursed lips.

"Fine" I said poking her stomach.

"Fine" she said squinting her eyes at me as she tried to hold back a smile.

"Fine."

"Fine."

"Fine."

She finally broke and gave me a toothy smile both dimples on display, so I pulled her into a hug and laughed as she squirmed in my arms.

"Ann needs a sample of my wolf blood" she mumbled slipping out of my grasp and running towards the infirmary. By the time I made it into the infirmary I sat back and watched Ann try to stick a wiggling Micah with a needle so she could draw blood from her.

"Will you sit still" she mumbled as Micah's excited butt made it impossible for her to work. "Your tail is getting in the way." she said swatting Micah's wagging tail out of her face.

"You know she's doing that on purpose right?" I asked laughing when Micah yipped at me and started chasing her tail "she's acting like a dog. When's the last time you saw a wolf act like a dog?"

"Micah!" she said smiling when my girl chuffed in laughter and finally sat still so Ann could take a blood sample.

"You just had to ruin the fun" Micah said running to my side once she had shifted back and changed into the clothes I had brought from my closet.

"That's me, a fun ruiner" I said kissing her nose.

"She is known to do that." Sue said nervously walking into the room with a soft smile.

"Since we were kids" Tyler quietly said following behind her "I guess some things never change."

I looked at my childhood best friends, beta's, and two of the three people I trusted most in the world. The two people I would trust Micah with and smiled at them before I looked down at Micah who was now standing slightly behind me with a nervous look on my face.

"Micah" I said turning my back on Sue and Tyler so I could give her my full attention "I want you to meet my two of my best friends in the whole world." Thankfully she perked up at that. She had told me a lot about her best friend, a boy named Andy from her pack back at Michigan. I knew she missed him and hated that she didn't get the chance to say goodbye. "Sue and Tyler are my Bettas. I told them about you on your first night here and they have been really excited to meet you."

"They have waited that long?" she whispered to me in disbelief "that's like two weeks, does everybody know?" she asked with big eyes.

"No" I said "they obviously know something is up, I haven't been around as much as I normally am, but they are respecting my privacy. Tyler and Sue wanted to wait until you were ready."

"Who said I was ready?" she asked with a smirk.

"I did ya little snot." I said smiling "I'm not going anywhere, I'll be there the whole time. But you need things, and I need someone to come with us."

"Okay" she said taking a deep breath "I can do this."

"Good" I said standing up and turning to my friends who were pretending not to listen "Sue and Tyler; this is my beautiful mate Micah."

"It is a pleasure to meet you Micah" Sue said shaking her hand.

"Bro" Tyler said holding out a fist with a smirk and waiting for Micah to fist bump him. I nodded at him with a smile, grateful he was being cautious of the fact she was nervous around men.

"Seriously" Sue said rolling her eyes as I stepped away to talk to Ann "bro, that is your greeting."

"I'm going to test this and get back to you" she said looking at the test tube with a smile "you guys have fun today." she said waving us off as we walked out the door.

It took me by surprise when people started asking for updates in this story because it has been sooooooo freaken long since I have written it! I actually really like this book but you're going to have to bear with me because I hardly remember the plot that I had originally planned! But as I have been remapping the story line, I am totally excited to dive back in!
